Path to Leadership Conference
Grade 8 students from Hamburg School participated in the 2026 New Jersey Elks Path to Leadership Conference, a one-day leadership and awareness program held in February 2026, at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch. The conference brought together middle school students (grades 6–8), educators, and parents from across New Jersey to focus on important topics such as drug prevention, mental health awareness, and bullying prevention.
Throughout the day, Hamburg School students engaged in interactive workshops, listened to motivational speakers, and participated in discussions designed to build leadership skills and promote positive decision-making. The experience encouraged students to reflect on the impact of their choices, develop strategies for supporting peers, and strengthen their commitment to creating a safe and respectful school community.
The Sussex County Miners are proud to partner with our school and over sixty others to encourage strong reading and study habits. Students who read an average of 100 minutes per week for any three-week period in March or April (about 20 minutes per day, five days per week, outside of school) will earn two free tickets to a Miners game at Skylands Stadium. A special summer weeknight game will celebrate participating schools and reunite students, faculty, and staff. To participate, a parent or guardian must complete the form below.
See Mrs. Smalley or Mrs. Clark if interested in participating

Route 23 Road Study
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has initiated a Concept Development Study for Route 23 from Master Street to Scenic Lake Road to identify and evaluate alternatives that will improve safety and mobility along the corridor for all users, including vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles.
NJDOT is seeking feedback from residents, commuters, businesses, and community members to understand the use, challenges, and opportunities for improvement along the corridor.
Your input will help shape future improvements to access and mobility within the corridor.
Estimated time to complete the Survey is 5 minutes.
Christopher Land is the teacher of the Engineering Program at Sussex County Technical School. He is sharing an exciting opportunity for your students, our new Girls Without Limits Program for elementary and middle school female students.
We are offering this program in response to the continued underrepresentation of women in STEM fields. Recent data shows that women make up about 28% of the STEM workforce and only 13% of engineers. Our goal is to help break down barriers, build confidence, and encourage young girls to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math. This program is completely free and designed to provide hands-on, engaging experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity.
We hope that you will share this opportunity with your students. I have attached a program flyer below with additional details. The flyer is also currently published on our school website, www.sussextech.org. The program is currently limited to 25 participants so please encourage your students to sign up soon.
