Admin Appreciation Week
This week, we continue celebrating Admin Appreciation Week by recognizing the incredible work of our school leaders.
We’re grateful for our Principal, Mrs. Lucas, whose steady guidance and commitment help shape a school where students and staff can thrive.
We also want to acknowledge our Assistant Principals - Ms. Beerbower, Mr. Childress, Ms. Hostutler, Mr. McMillan, and Mr. Shaffer - for the many ways they support our school every single day. Your dedication, problem‑solving, and care make a meaningful difference.
Thank you to our entire administrative team for your leadership and all you do to support our school community!
A Message From Mrs. Lucas, BHS Principal
Hello Bobcat Families,
I hope you are all doing well! Today’s message includes a few important reminders about upcoming events, traffic safety, and helpful academic resources—ParentVUE and Khan Academy.
As we approach the end of the second quarter on January 22, please remember that January 23 and 26 are teacher workdays, and schools will be closed for students on both days. This is a great time to check ParentVUE regularly and connect with teachers if you have any questions or concerns about student progress.
We have also received several reports regarding unsafe driving behaviors near the turning lane onto Graduation Drive. Cutting abruptly in front of other vehicles and blocking cars exiting the subdivision creates unsafe situations for our students, staff, and families. For everyone’s safety, please follow all traffic laws and be considerate as you enter Graduation Drive and our school property. Your cooperation helps keep our community safe.
As a reminder, all students have access to Khan Academy, an excellent tool for strengthening Reading, Writing, and Math skills—especially in preparation for the SAT. Students can use their PSAT/SAT Skills Report to determine where to begin or take a Bluebook practice test to receive personalized recommendations.
Looking ahead, Academic Advising for the 2026–27 school year will begin in February. Please stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend! Please remember that schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, in recognition of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Go Bobcats!

Tutoring Opportunities
Varsity Tutoring
PWCS students have access to free online tutoring 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Students can access Varsity by logging in to PWCS Portal. To log in to PWCS Portal, students use their PWCS username and password. See this website for more information.
Khan Academy Free Access via the PWCS Portal for Students
All students in grades 9–12 now have access to Khan Academy through the PWCS Portal, powered by ClassLink. This learning platform offers personalized tools, instructional videos, and practice assessments designed to support academic success—especially in preparation for the PSAT and SAT.
Getting Started Is Easy:
Log in using your PWCS username and password (do not include “@pwcs-edu.org”).
Click the Khan Academy icon to launch the app and begin exploring resources.
Khan Academy is highly recommended for students preparing for standardized tests. Its content is aligned with College Board standards offering targeted practice to help students build confidence and improve performance. The most commonly used SAT preparation courses include:
SAT: Math
SAT: Reading and Writing
These courses are selected because they reflect the core sections of the SAT exam. Khan Academy’s SAT Math course covers algebra, problem-solving, data analysis, and advanced math topics. The Reading and Writing course focuses on grammar, vocabulary in context, and evidence-based reading comprehension, all essential skills for the SAT.
To access the SAT Prep courses, click on the “Courses” menu located at the top of the screen. Scroll down and select “Test Prep” from the list of available subjects. Under the Test Prep section, this where you’ll find the two main course options: “SAT Math” and “SAT Reading and Writing.” These courses are designed in partnership with the College Board and provide targeted practice aligned with the actual SAT exam format.
PWCS encourages all high school students to take advantage of this district provided resource to support their learning and college readiness.
