CELC News & Updates

Dear CELC Familles,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I got a little bit of holiday shopping done and my family and I enjoyed the first fire of the fall season in our fireplace.

The CELC staff are looking forward to holiday activities and celebrations. Stay tuned for messages from the teachers about special events!

Congratulations to our kindergarteners who received awards on Friday. We are so proud of our pawsitive leaders and citizens.

Here are a few updates to help keep you informed:

Now that the weather is cooling down, please make sure you send your student with a jacket daily
For the safety and security of students and staff, gates are locked during school hours.
Please use the front gate for entering and exiting the campus. the side gates are for employees only and must remain closed.
As a reminder, breakfast is served from 8:35 am to 8:55 am daily. It is free for all students. Parent may join their child at the tables.
Students are expected to follow school rules at all times. Please help support safe, responsible, and respectful behavior while you are on campus with them before and after school.
ATTENTION: If your student is going to be absent for an extended period, please make sure to request an Independent Study Contract from the office at least one week in advance. This will ensure that your child's teacher has ample time to prepare assignments, and your student can receive attendance credit during their absence.

Turkey Trot Info:

A big thank you goes out to our incredible community—family, friends, and parents—for playing a vital role in the success of the 2023 Creekside Turkey Trot. Your support was instrumental, and we truly appreciate it! We hope your student had a fantastic time. Your encouragement means the world to us. Stay connected by following the Creekside PTA on Instagram for updates on our upcoming events. Thanks again!

Book Fair Info:

Save the Date! The Scholastic Book Fair comes to Creekside December 11 - 15. The Book Fair will be open to all students before and after school (hours listed below). To stay up to date on all things book fair make sure you visit our Book Fair homepage HERE. From this homepage you can preview the books at the book fair as well as sign up for an e-wallet and volunteer! We will need quite a few volunteers to help operate the registers for the Book Fair, if you would like to help, please sign up HERE.

Attendance Matters

Building a habit of good attendance will help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally at school. Please limit absences that are not related to illness. If you know ahead of time that your child will be out for 3 or more days, please request an independent study contract to help keep them engaged in learning. Please take a moment to read the flyer below to learn more facts about attendance.

Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. Please let the office know the reason that your child is out and any symptoms if they are sick. Email Mary Barkely, our amazing Clerk or call the office at 619-659-8250.

Cubs in the Community

Mrs. Ripke will continue the Cubs in the Community tradition. Her goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on FB and IG. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke (and the CELC staff) looks out for future, current, and former Cubs! She is ready to meet the 2023-24 challenge. See one of the latest sighting below!

CELC SCHEDULE

All TK classes are released at 1:35 pm daily until winter break. TK moves to the full day kindergarten schedule on Tuesday, January 9th. Lunch and recess times are subject to change based on enrollment and site needs.

Dismissal gates open at 1:30 pm and 2:45 pm. If you would like your student released early, please sign them out in the office.

Mark your calendars: We will have at 12:15 pm release November 13th-17th for Parent conferences. Lunch times are different this week.

School Rules

CELC has three school rules. Students will be learning behavior expectations that are aligned with being safe, responsible, and respectful. We practice Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We understand that our students are still learning to problem solve and deal with school expectations. We believe in progressive discipline and restorative practices. Teachers and staff document concerns and communicate them with parents to form a partnership in your child's success. We love our Cubs and are looking forward to having a year of fun, friendships, learning and laughter!
