Message from the Principal
Today our students got their new Cornwall School t-shirts. This tradition has been made possible by the generosity of our Gilligan Committee, which distributes grant-based source funds to support special activities and opportunities like artists-in-residence, skiing, Four Winds, and our Cornwall School t-shirts every year. This year’s shirt is two-sided, because we had two gorgeous student drawings and we just couldn’t pick.
A special thank you to all the members of the Gilligan Committee, the Clark family, and Molly Daly for helping us to make these adorable t-shirts happen!
Joyfully,
Nadya

Reminders and Useful Bits
- Snack: All students need to pack a snack each day.
- Shoes: All students need inside and outside shoes. We have many extras at school! Please help support the messaging that we need to change our shoes because the grass is wet and a clean, dry rug makes working at the rug more comfortable for everyone.
- Annual forms: We are still missing annual forms from many families. These forms allow students to attend field trips, and most importantly, provide us with details on dismissal of students in the case of an emergency closure. (Which we did have last year, if you remember the plumbingtastrophe that shut our school down for a day!)
State law - child passenger safety
Each year, schools are asked to remind families about state safety laws regarding children riding in passenger cars.
Children under 8 must ride in a harnessed car seat or booster
Children under 13 years of age must ride in the back seat.
All children at Cornwall School are under 13, and, according to state law, must be riding in the back seat. There are reasonable exceptions to this for trucks without a back seat, of course.
Snapshots
Second Grade
Our second graders have jumped headfirst into our "Who We Are" transdisciplinary unit, exploring why we build relationships, how we solve problems, and practicing our essential classroom expectations.
Students expressed their unique personalities through creative "Me I Am" poems. In math, they created beetle glyphs (visual symbols representing information about themselves). The class then sorted, classified, and analyzed their glyph characteristics to generate data categories. To wrap it all up, our young mathematicians represented this data using picture and bar graphs, comparing how different graph styles display the exact same information!
