Hello Beaubien Bulldog Families!!!!

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! It is hard to believe, but we are only a few weeks away from the first day of school on Monday, August 26th. I hope your summer has been filled with joy, and that you and your family have been able to rejuvenate and relax over the summer break. We are looking forward to visiting with everyone at our Supply Drop off on Thursday, August 22nd from 3:00pm -5:00pm at Door #2 (main door) and Door #7 (Annex on Argyle St. side). This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher and see the classroom. If you are unable to make it, you can drop off supplies labeled with student names at the security desk in the main lobby any day during the week of August 19th between 8:00am and 3:00pm. You can find supply lists on our school website www.beaubienelementary.org.

All Beaubien Families need to review the attached packet from the CPS Office of Health and Wellness and complete the included forms. The forms included in this packet should be filled out and returned to your child’s homeroom teacher on the first day of school.

Spanish Forms

I know the question everyone's asking…. What homeroom is my child in? The wait is almost over! The ASPEN portal will be open the week of August 12th. You can login and see what room your child will be in. If you don’t have access to ASPEN, please come to the main office or call and we can let you know your child’s homeroom after the 12th. Summer hours are from 8:00am - 1:00pm.

Communication and involvement is extremely important to us at Beaubien. PLEASE be sure to sign up at the bottom of the page on our school website at www.beaubienelementary.org to receive our weekly updates and “Like” us on our Beaubien PTO Facebook page. You can also find us on Twitter @ JBBElementary. All updates, current events and opportunities for you to get involved in our school community will be posted on these sites. If you ever have any questions, please contact me at mhludford@cps.edu or contact the main office at 773-534-3500. My door is always open and I look forward to hearing from you.

On behalf of the staff, thank you for entrusting your child to us. It’s going to be a fantastic school year!

We are……..Beaubien Bulldogs!!

Kind regards,

Michelle H. Ludford

It's time to renew or obtain your CPS Volunteer Screening!

Parents and guardians who wish to volunteer at Beaubien must be approved in advance by Chicago Public Schools (CPS) central office. Screening approval is needed for volunteering at in-school activities, PTO volunteer events and off-site field trips, just to name a few examples.

Getting approved is easy, it just takes a couple of minutes:

1. Go to: https://chicagopublicschools.civicore.com/index.php?action=userLogin

2. Click: "Complete a Volunteer Application."

3. Choose LEVEL 2 volunteer when prompted (unless you are applying for a Level 1 position, which is a bit more involved)

4. Bring your Driver's License/ID to Ms. Santana in the Main Office, and tell her you would like be a Beaubien volunteer. Her email address is: esantana2@cps.edu

What if I was approved in past years? Am I still approved now?

It is important to login to your account at

https://chicagopublicschools.civicore.com/index.php?action=userLogin

1. Choose: "Complete a volunteer application"

2. Choose your language

3. Select: "Current Volunteer."

Follow directions from there.

Once that is complete, you must email Ms. Santana at the Beaubien Main Office for school approval again. Her email address is: esantana2@cps.edu

What is the difference between a Level 1 and Level 2 volunteer?

Please review the CPS policy at the following link.

Note: Most Beaubien field trips require Level 1 volunteer status, most PTO events only require Level 2 status.

Note: The approval process might take several weeks. Volunteers must be approved annually for each school they wish to volunteer at. Volunteer approvals from CPS are only valid for the current school year beginning each July 1 and expiring June 30th annually.

Questions? Please email our volunteer coordinator at beaubien.volunteer@gmail.com
