HEALTH OFFICE UPDATE HEALTH OFFICE UPDATE

MDH Recommended COVID-19 Decision Tree - we still continue to follow the MDH decision tree - is it required this year? No, however, it is strongly encouraged and recommended that we follow it. I highly encourage all families to read this document when trying to figure out what to do if not feeling well. (This has been updated!!). Here is the self-screening tool for our school too.

PLEASE stay home if ill. Covid is still around and showing up with just one symptom, I hear quite a bit - it's just a runny nose, it's only a sinus infection... and then you test positive for covid. Remember, STAY HOME IF YOU ARE PENDING A COVID TEST! Do not send your child to school if they are waiting for results from a covid test.

MPS now has rapid covid testing for students.

  • BinaxNow at-home testing
    • available to send home with all students district-wide, parents will need to request a kit, we will not be sending them home without parental request. Kits are available at both schools.
    • CURRENTLY, IT IS ONLY for STUDENTS
    • There are directions within the box, below is a great video showing step-by-step directions!
      • How to use the BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Self Test (step by step)
    • Call or stop by the health office if you are interested in getting one.

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for 5 - 11 year olds

  • Kanabec County Community Health (KCCH) and Welia will be offering covid-19 vaccinations to students at Mora Elementary School on November 22nd for the 1st dose and December 13th for the 2nd dose.
  • An email will be sent to all families with additional information including a link to sign up for a time. This will be held after school hours from 4 - 6 pm.
  • If you have any questions, please reach out to KCCH at 320-679-6321.

Any questions, feel free to reach out to me, Anne Grahn District Nurse, 320-679-6232 or agrahn@moraschools.org.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS

HOW TO APPLY FOR EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS LETTER
Please consider filling out an Application for Educational Benefits. While meals are free for all families this school year, the information from these forms has a DIRECT impact on school funding. What this means is that with fewer people completing the form, the school will actually receive less funding in the coming years. This could result in programs offered to students, teachers unable to qualify for grants, staffing reductions, or the district having to make other difficult budget decisions. Please complete the form by October 15th.
Application Form
WITH AN APPROVED APPLICATION...
1. Your family may qualify to receive benefits through the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program. This program gives hundreds of dollars to qualifying families (on an ebt card) to spend at the grocery store!
2. Your family may qualify for reduced/waived school fees, such as Tech Fee, Field Trip Fees, and others.
3. Your student(s) may qualify for free or reduced tuition at some post-secondary schools
4. Approved applications help the school qualify for education funds and discounts.
5. Families with approved applications receive reduced admissions to the Science Museum, MN Children's Museum and numerous MN Historical Society Exhibits across the entire state of Minnesota.
6. Teachers can qualify for special funds/grants to use in their classrooms
7. Title I and special event nights like Family Reading Night can continue.
