Woodland Families,

Thank you for attending our Sneak-a-Peek event on Friday. We enjoyed reconnecting with our “Wolf Pack” and welcoming new students to our school family. Our staff is excited about the first days of school. We know the transition back to school can be tricky. Our staff will spend the first days of school getting to know your children, academically and socially. Learning more about these two puzzle pieces will help us "Be Our Best" for the 2024-2025 school year.

The first day of school for students will be Tuesday, August 13th. School doors open at 8:35 AM. Students should arrive between 8:35-8:50 AM. On the first day, parents are welcome to walk students to class. All kindergarten students will meet in the CAFE on Tuesday morning. The first day of school is a 1/2 day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 AM.

4:15 Woodland Office Closes

• Please contact the office no later than 3:15, if you need to change your child's dismissal.
• Contact the office instead of emailing the teacher with dismissal changes during the day in case they are unable read email before dismissal.
• Students picked up early will be counted absence for portion of day missed.

Having your student present and on time for learning is a key factor in their success. Please see the updated guidelines for student attendance. There may be additional actions taken depending on the situation.

Tardies:

4 tardies in a semester= 1 unexcused absence, parent phone call

7 tardies in a semester= Intervention meeting and plan established with parents and school team

20 tardies in a semester= 5 unexcused absences, truancy authorities notified

Absenteeism

5 absences in a semester= Intervention meeting and plan established with parents and school team

9 absences in a semester= Second/updated intervention meeting and plan established with parents, school team, and any additional parties.

10 absences in a school year= Truancy authorities notified

3 unexcused absences in a row= Intervention meeting and plan established with parents and school team

5 unexcused absences in a semester= Truancy authorities notified

7 unexcused absences in a school year= Updated team intervention meeting

These policies align with BOE Policies JBA, JBAA, JBAD, JBAB, JBC.

If a unique situation exists which may interfere with regular, timely school attendance, please contact Mrs. Shipley to develop a plan in advance.

We are excited about welcoming guests back into our café this year. Please review the following information to help you plan your visit.

Guest Lunch Visits:

• Students will meet guests in the front entry prior to entering the café.
• Guests will enjoy lunch with their student at a designated table in the café.
• Families may bring in food from restaurants or home for lunch.

School spirit days are planned throughout the year. These days serve as a fun "team building" activity within our school community. Some days will have a fun theme, while other days may highlight Woodland or a local sports team. See September Spirit Days below:

Thank you for your patience with our car rider dismissal procedures. From start to finish, our dismissal process is averaging a 15-17 minute time span. All car rider families received a student name plate to be placed on the rearview mirror in your car. Please have the name plate in view when you are in the car rider line. This will help our staff quickly recognize your car and get your student to you as quick as possible. Thanks for your help!
