As we head into President’s Week, we want to wish all of our students and families a restful and enjoyable break.

We are so grateful for the strong partnership we share with you. Every day, we see the positive impact of our community working together to support children’s growth, learning, and well-being. The dedication of our staff and the encouragement from home create an environment where students can truly thrive.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. We hope this week provides time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments with family and friends.

Hey there Wildcat Families!

April is autism awareness month and Pomerado will be participating in the Race for Autism SUPERHERO 5K and One Mile Family Fun Walk on Saturday April 11th. We would love for Pomerado Families to participate in any way that brings them joy. We will accept donations to the Pomerado Wildcat Team page (link below) or even individual participants. We would also love to walk with you on Saturday April 11th in Balboa Park so if that feels like a fun way to participate, the more the merrier. Every dollar raised goes directly to support autism programs and services that are making a difference for those with autism. Thank you in advance for being a SUPERHERO for autism!

As we begin planning for the end of the school year, our staff is excited to celebrate our amazing 5th grade students at our annual promotion ceremony. This meaningful milestone marks an important step in your child’s journey, and we look forward to celebrating this special achievement together.

Families are warmly invited to join us on Tuesday, June 2, as we honor our students. The 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and is expected to conclude around 10:30 AM.

Please note that this date has been updated from the original school calendar. As the new principal at Pomerado, I am truly honored to celebrate this special occasion with my first 5th grade class. Adjusting the event to Tuesday also allows me to celebrate this milestone with both our students and my own child, who is promoting at his school in Temecula.

We look forward to celebrating this exciting moment with you and your child!

New Student Enrollment

Poway Unified New Student Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year started on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 8:00AM. Please forward this information to families new to the area or our school district. This enrollment period includes new students who will be enrolling in Preschool through High School.

We can’t wait to meet our new families! New Student Enrolment for Poway Unified School District is an online process. Packets are completed digitally using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. Please contact your assigned school of residence to schedule an appointment if you do not have access to a device/internet or need assistance with completing the online enrollment packet.

The 2026-2027 school year is scheduled to begin for all students on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Welcome to PUSD! For more information about our schools and programs, visit our website.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten Information

If a school reaches near capacity for TK or Kindergarten, a lottery may be needed to determine student placement. To be included in the lottery (if required), families must submit their new student enrollment packets between February 2, 2026, and February 13, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. Only students who enroll during this period will be eligible. If a lottery is necessary at our school, families will be notified. The district conducts the lottery for each site.

2026-2027 Transfer Information

The Poway Unified transfer window opened on February 1, 2026 at 8 a.m. If you live within the Poway Unified boundaries and want your child to attend a school different than your assigned school, submit your Intradistrict Transfer (IDT) request online through the Transfers page on the PUSD website. (This includes siblings of current students.) Please make sure to still enroll your child at their assigned school of residence. Transfer requests can only be processed once your child is enrolled in their school of residence. The Intradistrict Transfer request window closes on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

2026-2027 Continuing Student Registration

The Poway Unified continuing student registration opens March 2nd, all parents whose current students will continue in Poway Unified for the 2026-27 school year need to complete online continuing registration. Look for more information coming soon.

Join us for a fun-filled day connecting with your community!

Parent Ambassadors of Special Education, in collaboration with local community partners, invite families of students with disabilities to the Community Resource Fair & Family Fun Day on Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Old Poway Park (14134 Midland Road, Poway, CA 92064).

Families will have the opportunity to meet local vendors and organizations serving Poway and surrounding areas, explore postsecondary opportunities, and enjoy live stage performances and program demos. The event features 28 vendor booths, a fun activity and video game zone for all ages, and plenty of family-friendly excitement. Siblings are welcome!

Make a day of it—plan a family outing to the fair and stop by the nearby Farmer’s Market (open from 8 am to 1 pm) for even more local treats and finds. We hope to see you there!

Our 5th graders are getting ready for JA BizTown, presented by Junior Achievement, by participating in mock interviews! Students met with a friendly panel of retired Pomerado teachers and former principals who helped them practice answering questions, build confidence, and get a feel for what real interviews are like. It was a fun and valuable experience, and we’re proud of how well our students stepped up and prepared for their upcoming BizTown visit!
