CMAS Update & A Little Celebration
Dear SHMS Families,
It has been a busy week at Shaw Heights! We officially kicked off CMAS testing, and I’m happy to share that things are going really well. Students have already completed their math tests, and we have one more literacy test coming up on Monday.
This is a lot of work for everyone, and we are proud of how our students are showing up. We are seeing them put in strong effort, use their time well, and stick with problems even when they are tough. That’s exactly what we hope for.
When you check in with your child this weekend, more than likely they will tell you that it’s hard—or that they don’t like it. That’s okay. What we are really teaching them is how to work through something that is difficult, give their best effort, and not give up. We are asking them to put their full thinking into their work and show what they know.
We ask that you take a moment to talk with your child about their effort. If you can, consider doing something small to celebrate—a favorite snack, a quick outing, or even just a few extra words of encouragement. Let them know: “I’m proud of how hard you’re working.”
Those small moments go a long way.
Thank you for your continued support!
Have a great weekend!
