An Update from Jason
Dear MHS,
I hope you are well and had a wonderful weekend. It was a busy weekend for the Gingold/Affolter House. Renee and I took my dad to breakfast at Henry's in Burlington. I suggest the "Little Henry," which is everything you want and need for breakfast. I added a chocolate milkshake for fun; why not?
Then, it was off to the MHS Spring Fling, which was fantastic! We had over 300 students attend, a great crowd, no issues, and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time! I'm super proud of our students for planning the event, our chaperones for their help, and our community of students who were more than responsible and just plain old fun!
Thank you, Matt, Emily, Drew, Bri, Brian, JK, the wonderful UVM DJs (Lindy, Laurel, and Grace), and the Chaperones who guided the evening, which went well, was fun, and was calm. And despite being a bit of a rough week, the dance filled my gratitude bucket!
Sunday. I'm finishing up watching basketball, taking Banks for a walk, and getting ready for the week. The Yankees are on Free MLB TV, and I rested for the week.
This week, like every week, we have a lot going on! Cognia testing, Steven Willis Guest Speaker, Masque Production of 12th Night, and a Robotics trip to the New England Championships. Sweet!
I am looking forward to all of it!
Thank you for your constant flexibility, communication, and mentorship of one another and our students. It's April. Some days are tough, some are great, and we can honestly attest that we have a team that works well together. Thank you for helping us all hold "it" together.
Have a wonderful new week.
Sincerely,
Jason
"I split problems into two groups: muddy puddles and leaky ceilings.
Some problems are like muddy puddles. The way to clear a muddy puddle is to leave it alone. The more you mess with it, the muddier it becomes. Many of the problems I dream up when I'm overthinking or worrying or ruminating fall into this category. Is life really falling apart or am I just in a sour mood? Is this as hard as I'm making it or do I just need to go workout? Drink some water. Go for a walk. Get some sleep. Go do something else and give the puddle time to turn clear.
Other problems are like a leaky ceiling. Ignore a small leak and it will always widen. Relationship tension that goes unaddressed. Overspending that becomes a habit. One missed workout drifting into months of inactivity. Some problems multiply when left unattended. You need to intervene now.
Are you dealing with a leak or a puddle?"

Reminders (To Do)
- G&W Calendar Change- April 10 becomes GREEN and April 17th becomes a WHITE DAY because of the Eclipse.
- Grades- please enter grades for students. Progress Reports will be mailed home soon.
- On 4/15/24 MHS The Conversation is presenting "On behalf of the Conversation, I'm excited to announce consent educator Sarah Casper will be coming to our school April 15th to host an interactive consent presentation, "Consent Shakeup". This is designed to be an applicable and more nuanced version of the consent education most of you have already received. The course will be taught in two groups, block two and three (a green day). All seniors will be excused from the class they will be missing and sorted into two groups (stay tuned for your group) .
This opportunity has been made possible with generous community member's donations. The MHS class of '68 has been instrumental in our fundraising, donating in the name of their classmate Robin Farnham, whose life was tragically taken in an act of domestic violence soon after her high school graduation. Our club has been fundraising and putting a lot of thought and time into this event and we are really grateful to be able to provide this experience for the class of 2024! Thank you for your participation!"
From The MRPS Business Office- Please submit final FY24 requisitions by April 5th and plan on final purchases by April 19th. There will be an exception for essential items that cannot be purchased ahead of time. Sticking to this timeline is helpful to us in providing year end projections and ensuring all invoices are signed and received in the business office before the end of the school year. We truly appreciate your attention to this matter. Please contact Michelle Keyes at Michellekeyes@mpsvt.org with any questions or concerns.
MHS Professional Development Opportunity
