Break My Bones
A secret never to be shared. A killer seeking vengeance. Is his nightmarish fiction about to become a bloody reality?
Michael Kerrigan is delighted with his success. With his well-received suspense novels putting him on the map, the popular author trades his dark past for meet and greets with adoring fans. But his borrowed peace shatters when a friend he thought he’d buried dead in the ground long ago shows up very much alive… and hellbent on wreaking murderous havoc.
Trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Michael works furiously to uncover the shocking truth while dodging his assailant’s ruthless attacks. And with his sanity splintering as he processes years of suppressed guilt, sacrificing himself may be the only way to protect his loved ones from a crazed enemy’s relentless carnage.
Can Michael undo the sins of yesteryear before he’s the one thrown into a grave?
Self-Publishing March 2023 (Follow up announcement via countdown start on Amazon and Barnes and Noble)
The Dominant One
You find out your childhood friend might just be a serial killer of pure evil. What would you do? Try to kill him? Or report him to the police that you know won't be able to contain him?
Gabriel Connolly struggles with what’s right. Then, when he’s faced with pure evil, and realizes he has no choice, he tries to drown his soul-less friend in a river. But evil doesn't die.
And that’s just the start of Gabriel's new nightmare. You can’t cheat death, that’s the trick. Even worse, Gabriel realizes he may have passed on supernatural gifts to a heartless killer.
As fiendish plans and unspeakable atrocities are set in motion, Gabriel learns that he alone may hold the key to a series of terrifying events: a secret cabin in the woods, a hidden tomb housing a trail of dismembered corpses, the young killer who lingers in a coma intent on cheating death. And at last, a depraved madman hellbent on saving his only son’s life. Can Gabriel take back the gifts given and triumph over the wicked? And most importantly, will death lay claim in the end?

The Hinsdale House
The Hinsdale House, aka the ‘Dandy House’, is in western New York, and is also considered one of the most notorious haunted houses in the United States.
This house has a long history of sinister acts and sordid events. These incidences include a Native American Massacre on the surrounding land of the house 200 years prior. In the 1800s, two male siblings were rumored to live there, robbing coaches and killing their targets, whereas they would bury them in the cellar or on the grounds itself. Those who most likely suffered heinous deaths scattered along the property in unmarked graves.
The 'Dandy House’, got its nickname in the 1700s. A family by the name of Dandy lived there with their children. The family suffered paranormal activity so wicked, they had no choice but to call in a priest. Unable to quiet the damnable souls, the house went on to many occupants, but never for too long. After sitting empty and unkempt, the current owner, purchased, restored, and at the current runs tours of the historic residence.
Whatever your pleasure, they offer it for just the right price. Whether walkthrough, overnight sit in or paranormal, jammin' sleepover, these lost and sinister souls will keep you wrapped in eternal (non) bliss all night long. There's even a live webcam for you peepin' Toms out there. Why yes... Isn't it just DANDY!
SIDE NOTE: THIS DANDY LITTLE HOUSE IS ON MY BUCKET LIST! A venture that makes this lady’s heart go pitter patter... No walks on the beach, candlelit dinners or a violin concerto performed by the sophisticated yet dashing older gentleman by the name of Marcel. For I would have no choice but to exclaim... Damn you, Marcel! I wanted Violence! Not violins!
Death Photography
A practice of the 19th Century, enabling a lasting image of a family member long after they were gone.
Memento mori- Remember, You Must Die.
This custom, so to speak, flourished because photos of the living were very expensive, compared to the dead, as one had to sit for quite some time, still. Early cameras were painstakingly slow. This made photo taking of the dearly departed easier than the living, and as a result, much less expensive.
Evelyn McHale (Suicide by Jumping)
Evelyn McHale
Evelyn arrived at Penn Station at around 9 am and went across the street to the Governor Clinton Hotel where she wrote a suicide note and then walked two blocks east where, shortly before 10:30 am, she bought a ticket to the 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building. She then placed some of her belongings at the side of the railing, along with a collection of family photos and a small notebook that contained her goodbye note, before jumping to her death.
“I don’t want anyone in or out of my family to see any part of me. Could you destroy my body by cremation? I beg of you and my family-don’t have any service for moor remembrance for me. My fiancé asked me to marry him in June. I don’t think I would make a good wife for anybody. He is much better off without me. Tell my father I have too many of my mother’s tendencies.”
Her desire to disappear from the world unseen went heartbreakingly array, as the image of her body became the most widely recognized-and perhaps the most romanticized of our time.
Dead Alive (1991)- Proclaimed by even the most hardcore fiends of horror, such as myself, as the most gory, violent and all around sadistically brutal horror films ever to grace the screen. Not to mention a cast of the most zany and hellacious characters. My favorite being, Father McGruder, a zombie slayin’ priest who gloriously exclaims in the thrusts of an undead battle... “I kick Ass for the Lord!” Not to say it isn’t a smashing and bloody good time. An utterly foul and fantastic frolic of zombie fun, with a side of oddly displaced organs, eviscerated flesh and discorporate souls. Beware, Dead Alive (AKA BrainDead) is not for the faint of heart.
I often demand more, as I am and will always be ‘LOYAL TO THE GORE’! This picture is by none other than our own Middle Earth and Hobbit loving filmmaker, Peter Jackson.
A YOUNG MAN’S MOTHER IS BITTEN BY A SUMATRAN RAT-MONKEY. SHE GETS SICK AND DIES, AT WHICH TIME SHE COMES BACK TO LIFE, KILLING AND EATING, DOGS, NURSES, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS.
Not Dark Yet.
Horns
Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache, and a pair of horns growing from his temples. At first Ig thought the horns were a hallucination, the product of a mind damaged by rage and grief. He had spent the last year in a lonely, private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances.
A mental breakdown would have been the most natural thing in the world. But there was nothing natural about the horns, which were all too real.Once the righteous Ig had enjoyed the life of the blessed: born into privilege, the second son of a renowned musician and younger brother of a rising late-night TV star, he had security, wealth, and a place in his community. Ig had it all, and more—he had Merrin and a love founded on shared daydreams, mutual daring, and unlikely midsummer magic. But Merrin’s death damned all that.
The only suspect in the crime, Ig… never charged, tried or cleared. In the court of public opinion in Gideon, New Hampshire, Ig is and always will be guilty because his rich and connected parents pulled strings to make the investigation go away. Nothing Ig can do, nothing he can say, matters. Everyone, it seems, including God, has abandoned him. Everyone, that is, but the devil inside.
Review
A Note on Writing.
Dare to Dream- One should never dare to dream lukewarm, with an endeavor-less passion, a heart that beats still. For the souls meant to be eternal, never to run tepid or alone.
-Michelle Ian
Horror Writer ‘Mike Salt’ on being an Actual Writer-
Being a writer is pretty neat.
It’s like giving yourself homework nightly for no reason. There’s also the sleepless night editing. Bad reviews. Marketing to strangers. Imposter syndrome. Alcoholism. Dark rooms and a voice inside your head saying “not ready”.
Um, yeah, pretty neat.
In Conclusion.
Drop me a line with any comments or suggestions.
Until next time, remember...
YOU SHOULD BE WRITING.
