NROTC SCHOLARSHIP NROTC SCHOLARSHIP

The NROTC Scholarship offers a comprehensive "full-ride" package designed to cover the cost of a traditional four-year college education while preparing students for service as U.S. Navy officers. Key benefits include full tuition coverage and mandatory educational fees, a stipend per academic year for textbooks, and a tax-free monthly subsistence allowance ranging from $250 to $400 based on academic year. Additionally, recipients receive uniforms, participate in valuable summer training cruises within the fleet, and are guaranteed a commissioned officer position upon graduation!

The NROTC Scholarship has three options for applicants to choose from to have their education funded.
• PREMED (those with aspirations to go to medical school after completing undergrad)
• Nursing (those applying to nursing school)
• Standard 4-year (all other majors outside of the medical field, highly competitive if looking into engineering programs).

Please see links below with specifics about each program.

Applications for the start of Fall 2027 are open now and close on Jan 31st. PREMED applicants have to be fully completed and mailed to the board before Dec 15th.

Right now there is very little interest for the Nursing and PreMed scholarship options. IAny students who might be interested in going to school for these careers should apply! With little interest there is a higher likelihood they are to be selected. They are always able to turn down the scholarship too at a later date if other options come up.

Things to Know about Merit Aid Things to Know about Merit Aid

Merit aid is one way to close the gap between the cost of attendance and need based financial aid. Merit aid is a form of college financial aid that might cover a student's entire tuition or be a one time award of a few hundred dollars. It's awarded based on academic, athletic, artistic or leadership abilities or special interests.

  • Start the scholarship process early
  • The National Merit Scholarship Program offers millions in aid (must take PSAT/NMSQT as a junior to qualify)
  • Scholarship applications should not cost money
  • Some colleges require a separate application for merit aid
  • Understand the terms of an award - Scholarships and grant aid can be nonrenewable, meaning the aid is available only for a specific term or academic year. Renewable aid, often requires recipients to maintain certain eligibility requirements, such as satisfactory academic progress.
