CES SHARK Alert for Week of June 16th
Sunday, June 15th
Dear SHARK families and friends,
After 177 days of learning and fun, the end of the school year is finally here. It has truly been a great year to be a SHARK! The last day of school is Wednesday and there is an 11:00 dismissal time. Families and friends of our 4th grade students are invited to join us at 10:45 for the 4th-Grade Clap Out. Please line the front sidewalk of CES from the Main Office to the playground.
This past week was an incredibly busy week full of academic presentations, field trips, and celebrations of learning. Make sure to check out some of the photos from our fairs and field trips below.
On Friday, our Grade 4 students were treated to a special celebration in honor of their time spent at CES. A video show, luncheon, and water games made for a great afternoon! While the 4th-grade was celebrating, grade K-3 participated in Step Up Day.
As with any school year, there are some changes for the 25-26 school year in staffing. Next year's line up of classroom teachers includes:
- Prekindergarten - Ms. Maggie McIntire
- Kindergarten - Ms. Elise Johnson-Dreyer
- 1st Grade - Mrs. Oona Melanson
- 2nd Grade- Mrs. Barbara Laub and Ms. Sue Linnell
- 3rd Grade - Mrs. Emily Tuccio and Ms. Margaret Turco
- 4th Grade - Mr. Chis Gessner and Ms. Cindy Macomber
Your SHARK can prepare for next year by practicing reading and math skills over the summer months. Each K-3 student will receive a calendar and list of suggested activities they can work on during the vacation. The report card will also include a handout with instructions on how to access student learning accounts through their Clever platform. The digital access is available from June 18th through August 15th. We recommend students spend 45 minutes a week practicing math and 45 minutes a week practicing reading over the summer. Track your student's work on the calendar and when school starts in September, students can turn in their calendar to earn prizes and special recognition. A little bit of practice goes a long way! We appreciate your support in motivating students to practice and build on their skills all summer long.
Speaking of summer activities, current 3rd and 4th grade students are invited to join the CES entry in this year's Chatham 4th of July parade. A brief meeting with students will take with students who sign up on Wednesday, June 18th. Please sign your student up ASAP using the link in the article below. Last year, CES won the Best Civic Float award, and this year, with Ms. Kidd's after-school club's help, we have an even better entry!!
Thank you for an incredible year! Best of luck to our 4th-grade students as they move on to the middle school and remember, once a CES SHARK, always a CES SHARK! Have a wonderful summer vacation and get ready for 2025-2026 - it's going to be another fin-tastic year!
With deepest appreciation,
Dr. Kelly
Fourth of July Float - Seasons of Chatham
Chatham Elementary is entering a float in this year's Chatham Fourth of July Parade and we need students to walk the parade route with us. There will be a meeting with students on June 18th during school hours and more information provided to families regarding day of planning.
Students in Grades 3 and 4 are invited to join us for this special day. If your student is interested in joining the CES Float, please sign up HERE by June 17th.
Returning Band and Orchestra Instruments
- Contact the company to let them you know you are returning the instrument.
- Place the student's name and identifying information in the instrument case and attach to the handle.
- Leave the instrument in the Main Office, not the Music Room!! A representative from the company will pick up all rentals left in the office. Instruments not in the Main Office will not be collected by the company and you will continue to be charged.
- Check your credit card statement to ensure charges have stopped.
If your child received one of the loaned instruments from the Daniel J Hollis Foundation and plans to continue with band or orchestra next year you do not need to return the instrument to school.
For those who will not be continuing their music study, we ask you return the instrument to the Music Room with the child's name on the instrument so we can recycle and provide it to other students to use in the future.

SHARK Shout Outs!
Thank you to Ms. Kilkenny, Mrs. Laub, and Mrs. Tuccio for securing the grant to fund the 2nd grade's seal tour. It was many students' first boating experience and what a day we had on the water!
Thank you to the 3rd grade students and their teaching team for an incredible Marine Life Fair. Did you know that scientists can tell the age of a Right Whale by examining its ear wax?
Thank you to the 4th grade students and their teaching team for taking us on a learning trip through the United States! The States Fair was an incredible event and we were so impressed!
Thank you to the CES PTO for sponsoring the 4th Grade video, luncheon, and celebration. It was a fin-tastic way to commemorate our Grade 4 students' time at CES. And a special shout out to the staff members who sat for the Dunk Tank!
THANK YOU FAMILIES AND FRIENDS for your continued support of students, staff, and events!
