A Message to Our Parents and Families

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

I hope this message finds you well as we continue through another successful school year. I am writing to emphasize an important factor in student success: attendance.

Attendance Matters

Regular school attendance is one of the most critical components of academic achievement. When students are present and arrive on time to class every day, they:

  • Receive direct instruction and participate in essential learning activities
  • Build consistent study habits and routines
  • Stay connected with their teachers and peers
  • Avoid gaps in knowledge that can be difficult to overcome
  • Develop responsibility and time-management skills that will serve them throughout life

Research consistently shows that students with strong attendance records perform better academically, are more engaged in school activities, and are better prepared for future success.

Our Commitment

We are committed to providing a quality education for every student, but we can only do this effectively when students are present. Every day counts, and every class period matters.

Working Together

We ask for your partnership in making attendance a priority. Please ensure that your child:

  • Arrives at school on time each day
  • Attends all scheduled classes
  • Makes up any missed work promptly when absences are unavoidable

If you are experiencing challenges with attendance, please reach out to us. We are here to support you and work together to find solutions.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child's education. Together, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Alisha Wells, M.ED.

Mr. Green

I am Mr. Green. I teach 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies. I am also the middle school lead teacher. This is my 8th year in education and my third-year teaching at SBMHS. A fun fact about me is that I graduated at the top of my class in high school and maintained that level of achievement throughout college. My goal this year is to challenge myself and my students to reach our highest potential. I want to create a classroom where students feel safe, respected, challenged, and motivated to learn. I want my classroom to be a structured and engaging learning environment where students understand that their education is important and that they are capable of achieving at high levels.

🎉 Exciting News for SBMHS! 🎉

Scott's Branch Middle High School has received a grant for career exploration through the Empowering Clarendon program! Thanks to the Bravo Foundation's efforts in securing a $30,000 grant from Power:Ed, SBMHS will receive six (6) Transfr Virtual Reality (VR) sets to enhance our Career Exploration curriculum.

This cutting-edge technology will allow our middle school students to experience hands-on career simulations, explore their interests, and develop essential 21st-century skills—all through immersive VR experiences.

A special thank you to Mrs. Carolyn Dingle and her Career Exploration students who tested the VR sets during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. We're excited to see how this innovative technology will engage and inspire our students as they explore future career pathways!
