A Message from the Principal
Happy End of Week, Tiger Families!
Here are some important updates and reminders about grade reporting as we enter into our first progress report window of the year. Click on this link to see a more detailed district update on progress reports. Progress report grades will ONLY be visible in Canvas and not posted on Infinite Campus. Students and families will see multiple grades for each course representing different grading strands instead of an overall summary grade. When viewing grades, make sure you are looking at the summative strands and not the overall class total. At the end of each semester, semester grades will be reported via Infinite Campus. Attached below, you will find resources with visuals to help you view grades in Canvas. Viewing scores on a computer is the best way to navigate Canvas. There is also a step-by-step guide for becoming a parent observer on Canvas: Math grade information will also be reported via Forefront. We will send home physical copies of progress reports and QR codes for electronic access to Forefront. Here is a previous district communication about math grade reporting via Forefront. The progress report window closes on October 26. This means you will see the most up-to-date grades in your student’s courses on October 27th. We know navigating all the digital platforms isn't easy. If you have any questions about Canvas, proficiency scoring, need help becoming an observer, or just want to share feedback, please contact me, Nicki Fischer, or Blair Draxler. We will also be having our Quarter 1 Parent Meeting on Tuesday November 3rd from 5:30-6:15. At this meeting we will be going over some student data, some cool things that are happening here at Tipler and more. Have a great weekend!

Halloween Dress Up 10/30:
To ensure that all of our students can celebrate safely and comfortably, please review our costume guidelines with your child before they get dressed for the festivities:
Costume & Dress Code Guidelines
Standard School Dress Code Applies: All costumes must comply with our everyday school dress code policies regarding appropriate coverage, length, and content.
Hats & Hoods Allowed; No Full Face Masks: Festive hats, wigs, and hoods are completely fine to wear! However, full face masks are strictly prohibited so that staff can easily identify every student throughout the day.
No Full Face Makeup: To maintain clear student identification and safety, full face makeup is not permitted. Minimal accents (like a painted cat nose or small face detail) are fine, but face coverage must be minimal.
Cultural Respect: We ask that costume choices respect all cultures and backgrounds. Please ensure costumes do not perpetuate stereotypes or appropriate cultural traditions.
Keep It Friendly (No Violence, Weapons, or Blood): Halloween at school is a family-friendly environment. Costumes should be fun and non-threatening—violent, gory, or overly scary costumes are not allowed. Fake weapons of any kind (swords, knives, guns, props) and fake blood are strictly prohibited.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community safe, inclusive, and fun. We appreciate your support in making this Halloween and dance a memorable event for all our students!

i- Ready!
What is i-Ready? The i-Ready assessment is given to students across OASD three times a year to monitor growth and progress in the areas of reading and mathematics. So how does it work? The i-Ready Inform (previously known as the i-Ready Diagnostic) is an adaptive test. At the beginning of the year the test will start one grade level below the student's current grade level in school. Questions will adjust in difficulty based on correct and incorrect responses. The test is actually designed for students to get half of the questions incorrect to narrow in on a score. School staff use the test results to help identify areas of strength, areas of growth, and as a way to identify students who may need an extra layer of support. Students use the data to monitor their progress and identify their strengths. Each student will use last year's data to set goals for this year during home base. Families are mailed test results to help know if their students are growing and how best to support their students in their academics.
So how can you best support your students? Talk to them about their test results and goals they have set for the year. The assessment is designed to be challenging; encourage your student to keep at it even when it gets tough! Work on having a consistent bedtime and wake-up time and eat breakfast to be ready and alert at school. Test results do not define students, but they can help us identify areas where support is needed. Please reach out to the building instructional support teacher, Nicki Fischer, with questions regarding your students i-Ready scores (nicole.fischer@oshkosh.k12.wi.us).

2026-2027 Parent Guide: Field Trip Reigistration, payment & Opt -Out Directions
The Oshkosh Area School District has streamlined the process for handling field trip consents through the Online School Registration process (OLR). When you register your students for school you will sign the universal form for all field trips for your student for that school year. You will always have the option to opt out of a field trip once the registration opens for that field trip. Payments, and opt-outs will be made through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. All field trip management—whether you are making a payment or choosing to opt your student out—can now be completed directly online via a computer or the mobile app.
Below are the step-by-step directions to guide you through the process.
Step-by-Step Directions for Field Trip Payment / Opt-Out
Log in to Infinite Campus
Access your Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account on a computer or open the IC Parent App on your mobile device.
Note for District Employees: You must log in using a separate parent account rather than your employee login. Contact your SIS manager if you require login assistance.
Portal Resets: If you need your Parent Portal password or account reset, complete the online request form; resets are processed within 1 business day.
Navigate to the School Store
Once logged in, locate and select "School Store" from the main menu.
Select Your Child's School
Choose the school associated with the child for whom you are completing the form or payment.
Note: A separate consent/payment process must be completed for each child.
Select the Recipient
Click on "Recipient" to choose your child. Only students enrolled in the selected school will populate in this list.
Select Payment Option or Opt Out
Choose your preferred payment option for the field trip, or select OPT OUT if your student will not be participating.
Confirm Selection
Your selection will display on the screen.
If you chose to opt out, click on the provided Opt OUT link to complete the final confirmation step.
What Parents Need to Know: Our Updated Field Trip Process:
We have updated our field trip procedures to streamline communication and improve the administrative process for families. Please review the key details below:
One-Time Blanket Permission: Parents provide consent for all field trips during Annual Online Registration, covering the entire academic year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027).
Automatic Opt-In Status: Once online registration is completed, students are automatically opted-in for scheduled field trips.
Managing Specific Trips: Upon receiving notification of an upcoming trip, log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and visit the School Store to submit payments or opt out of that specific event.
Strict Deadlines: All payments and opt-out requests must be completed at least two weeks prior to the trip date. For extenuating circumstances, please contact your school secretary promptly.
Mandatory Registration: Completing Annual Online Registration is required for field trip participation. Students with incomplete registrations will not appear in the School Store system.
If you need technical support or require alternative arrangements, please contact your child's school secretary.

All diabetic students must have emergency supplies and testing equipment provided by parents. The school nurse will need an updated diabetic plan in place prior to the start of school. Please be sure to contact the doctor's office to get updated diabetic orders sent to the school.
