Dear Griffin Families,

Fall is here and cooler temperatures are around the corner! Soon, it will be the perfect weather to enjoy elote, hot cocoa, and maybe even some ponche.

We are thankful for our community partners who have joined us in supporting our students this past month. We also look forward to hosting our families for some learning opportunities and Hispanic Heritage celebrations during the month of October.

I encourage you to work with your child daily on setting a reading routine at home. Twenty minutes of daily reading at home can have a positive impact on students including but not limited to the following:

• Improved vocabulary
• Better comprehension
• Increased lifetime earnings

Our school library and city library are great sources for books. Expose your child to a variety of books and let them find what they are interested in. Then simply set up a time in the afternoon or at bedtime when you can read to them or have them read to you.

We have a lot in store for parent involvement this month! See flyers and announcements in this newsletter.

A special treat awaits our second grade Girl Bulldogs on Tuesday, October 14! Second grade girls are welcome to dress up as princesses or in their Sunday best as they listen to the Tyler Rose Queen read them a book in the Griffin Library! 👑

Join us for a night of celebration, local community vendors, and fun!

Our Bulldogs will be recognized for their accomplishments during our first nine weeks! See flyer for times.

Join in on the fun as we celebrate a life of being drug-free! Daily themes are included in the flyer below and we will finish off the week with a Book Character Parade on Friday, October 31!

Griffin Bulldogs Collected Approximately 2,000 Canned Goods for our East Texas Food Bank!

Our Tyler High Lions come and read to our Bulldogs on Fridays when they have home games! We appreciate their investment in our Bulldogs!

Thanks to our Griffin families and teachers who participated in our Open House!

🐾 Student of the Month - Yamileth Valadez is was nominated by her teacher, Ms. Woods, for being proactive and for always looking out for her friends. She has consistently made sure that her classmates feel safe by checking on them and helping them when needed.

🐾 Teacher of the Month - Ms. Zavala has is a quiet leader on her team. She has worked with colleagues to share and support in the area of language arts and reading. She also ensures that her Bulldogs are consistently stretching their knowledge and meeting their learning goals.

🐾 Staff of the Month - Coach Mancilla went above and beyond as we prepared for school this summer. He helped move furniture, put together and adjust new furniture, and support his colleagues when needed. He also ensures the safety of students during morning car drop off.

JR Ramirez and Felipe Ramirez from ETX Load & Dump donated of their time and resources to relocate old furniture to help us start the year fresh! Thank you for your generosity toward our campus!
