Amira Screener/Benchmark
Reading Difficulties Risk Screener for K-2
TIMELINE
- January 12-30: Testing Administration (no extensions)
- No more than 45 days from the date the assessment is administered: Results of the assessment must be sent to parents/guardians
ADMINISTRATION REMINDERS
- Let your MTSS Coach and Principal know when you are giving the Screener, as it starts the 45 day timeline.
- Administration will be anywhere between 15-30 minutes, but some students may take longer to complete their screener.
- Multilingual learners, as well as students in the Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program are to have the screener administered in both languages.
- Students who do not speak sufficient English, such as Newcomers, would be given the screener in Spanish. This modification needs to be made by the classroom teacher within settings.
- The screener is currently only available in English and in Spanish. Any other languages are not available at this time.
TESTING TIPS
- Test only a few students at a time.
- Encourage students to do their best and complete the screener at their own pace.
- Students can take the screener over multiple sessions.
- Be sure students reach the "saving" screen before having them exit the platform if you are doing multiple sessions.
- Keep classroom/background noise low to avoid errors in the analysis.
- Remind students to close other applications, tabs, and windows. The assessment may not save if other applications are open.
Ensure students read when the microphone is active (green indicator) and avoid rereading too soon at the end of the page.
Make sure the headset’s microphone is selected on the Chromebook, and not the default Chromebook microphone.
