Principal's Message

Good evening and Happy Friday!

This coming week our students that are designated as English Language Learner students (ELL) will be starting the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) test. This test is an annual measure of progress that our ELL students take to determine their progress in the area of language, and measures skills in the domains of reading, listening, speaking and writing. Our teachers use these test results to better inform their instruction for students, and we use these results to possibly redesignate students who no longer show a need in this area and could be taken off of our list of English Language Learners.

Just like all other state or school specific testing, it is incredibly important for students to get a full night of rest the night before testing, and to eat a hearty breakfast the morning of testing. We will be holding our usual bi-weekly assembly this coming Monday to talk about this test with students and motivate them to try their best. We encourage you to have this conversation with your students as well, and even if they are not taking the ELPAC, they will be taking SBAC state testing in early May, so the conversation can apply to that as well. ELPAC testing starts this coming Tuesday, February 25th and will continue through the end of the week. Make up testing will take place Monday March 3 for any students who may be absent or need extra time to finish.

Lastly, below are some resources in regards to immigration rights of families and students. Our goal at Pacific Drive and in the Fullerton School District is to provide a safe place of learning for all of our students. We have many resources here on campus should you be interested. Please call the main office if you'd like to learn more at 714-447-7735.
