Week of March 9, 2026

Hello Nashoba Community,

I hope this message finds you doing well. We finally have a stretch of warm weather this week, which I hope speeds the snow melting!

We have a busy week this week with Seal of BiLiteracy testing today and tomorrow, students participating in the DECA state competition beginning on Thursday and the opening of the Spring Musical on Friday evening.

ELA MCAS for Grade 10

On March 24th and 25th, our current 10th graders will take the ELA MCAS assessment. While the MCAS is no longer a graduation requirement, it is an important assessment that contributes to our State Accountability ratings and provides us with important data related to student achievement.

We encourage families to help ensure that students are present and on time for school on these days so they can participate in the assessment with their classmates. We also encourage our students to approach the assessment with a positive mindset and to put forth their best effort. Taking the time to thoughtfully demonstrate what they have learned helps us better understand how we are supporting students and where we can continue to grow as a school community.

Upcoming Dates:

March 13th, 14th, 15th - Spring Musical
March 18th - Spring Band Concert 7pm
March 25th - Spring Choral Concert 7pm
March 24th and 25th - ELA MCAS for grade 10
March 27th - No School for Students - Staff Professional Day

Have a wonderful week Nashoba!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kate Boynton, principal

Transition from School to Adult Life: Using the IEP to Create Success
This workshop will address the transition planning and services required for youth with disabilities ages 14-22 and will focus on the transition services districts should provide to prepare youth for employment, independent living, and further education. Using case examples, parents and professionals will learn strategies that can help ensure students receive important transition services required by special education law. The workshop will also provide information about the transition to the adult human service system, including Chapter 688, the state law that helps plan for youth with disabilities after they leave school.

Field Trip to Spanish American Center in Leominster

Last week, some of our students had the incredible opportunity to volunteer and spend time with senior members of the Hispanic community, representing a variety of Spanish-speaking countries. What began as a field trip quickly became an unforgettable day filled with connection, laughter, cultural exchange, and heartfelt moments. The senior members were incredibly happy that we were there and warmly welcomed our students. From the moment we arrived, they were eager to talk, share stories, laugh together, and truly connect with the students. Their kindness and openness helped create a joyful and comfortable atmosphere for everyone.

Be Infinitely Creative on Pi Day and get FREE PIE! - Volunteers Needed!

Dear Students and Families,

Stow PTO’s annual Arts Buffet is coming up on Saturday, March 14 (Pi Day!) at Center School, and they are looking for middle and high school students and families who would like to help make this creative community event a success.

The Arts Buffet is one of everyone’s favorite traditions at Center School. Younger students get to explore dozens of hands-on art and craft projects, and we rely on middle and high school volunteers to help guide them through activities, keep materials organized, and help ensure everyone has a fun and welcoming experience.

There are many volunteer roles and time slots available, so you can sign up for what works best with your schedule. It’s also a great opportunity to volunteer with friends, spend time helping younger students, and give back to the community.

If you need community service hours for school, clubs, or other programs, this is a fun and easy way to earn them.

As a thank-you for helping out on Pi Day, every volunteer will receive a free pie from Table Talk.

The SPTO especially needs help assisting younger students as they work through their individual craft stations, so if you enjoy working with kids, this is a wonderful way to make a big impact.

We hope to see many of our students there supporting our younger artists.
