Riceville 6th graders' field trip to Niagara Cave was a fun, educational experience and tie-in to their last science unit of the year... Geology!
Students had a guided tour of the cave, taking a one mile underground hike that's 200 feet beneath the surface. The students saw stalagmites and stalactites they'd learned about during science class, as well as fossils that were about 450 million years old. They experienced and observed the geological differences between underground and above ground, and put to good use the terminology they learned during class and applied it to an actual field experience via this field trip! An amazing day!
