From the Nest
Hello Pine Families!!
What a great first two days of school! We are incredibly proud of our students and the way they have jumped right in, followed our Eagle Expectations, and embraced the start of a new school year. We’ve already completed our first fire drill, and lunch and recess are running very smoothly!
This year, we have four lunch periods instead of three, which allows for smaller groups of students during lunch and recess. This has helped create a little more space, a calmer environment, and more opportunities for students to enjoy their time with friends.
Our students have also been busy learning routines, understanding expectations, and building new relationships with teachers and classmates. There has been A LOT to take in! We know many students may be heading into the weekend feeling a mix of excitement and exhaustion, and that is completely normal after two big days! 😊
A Few Quick Reminders
- Complete Emergency Forms: Our records show that several families still need to complete their annual PowerSchool emergency forms. These must be updated every year for safety reasons, even if your information has not changed. Please complete them today by logging into the PowerSchool website. The web version tends to work better than the mobile app. If you need help logging in, please call the office at 440-588-5530. There is also a tutorial located below.
- Stay Hydrated: The building can get VERY warm! Please send your child to school with a water bottle filled with water only each day. If your child brings a packed lunch and would like water with their meal, sending a separate bottle inside their lunchbox is especially helpful. While students can bring their classroom water bottle to lunch, they often forget it on their desk in the excitement & transition of lunchtime!
- Leave Toys at Home: We’ve reminded students that toys and special items should stay at home. Please take a quick peek in your child’s backpack before they leave in the morning. If a special item is ever needed for a classroom activity, the teacher will communicate that with you directly.
- Morning Arrival: Students should not arrive before 8:50 AM, as we do not have supervision available before that time. The bell rings at 8:50 AM, and our doors open at that time. Staff will also be outside to help students safely enter the building from their buses.
- Dismissal Changes: Our front office gets very busy at the end of the day! If you need to make a same-day change to how your child is getting home, please call the main office before 3:30 PM at 440-588-5530. This ensures we have enough time to communicate the change to the classroom. Please avoid using ParentSquare for same-day transportation changes, as teachers may not see messages until after dismissal.
- Early Pick-Ups: We understand that appointments and other circumstances sometimes require an early pick-up. Please give the office a quick call ahead of time to let us know when you’ll be arriving. This allows us to have your child ready and helps avoid delays if they happen to be at recess, specials, or elsewhere in the building.
Don’t Forget to Join the PTA! Check out the flyer below and click on the picture to register or scan the QR code.
There has been so much joy and positive energy filling our hallways these past two days! We are incredibly excited for our first full week together and all that this year will bring. Thank you for helping us make these first few days such a positive start to the year. We hope everyone has a restful weekend - our Eagles have certainly earned it!
🦅Go Eagles! 🧡🖤
