FBLA Project Info!
The Claysburg-Kimmel Middle School FBLA chapter has experienced record growth this year, exploding from a chapter of six last year, to a chapter of twenty this year! With this growth comes members wanting to try new competitive events or giving old ones a new spin. One project that is getting a fresh perspective is Community Service Presentation (CSP). This year, CSP is being taken on by 7th graders: Lakynn Musselman, Amelia Svitana, and Sara Whysong. This year’s middle school community service project is focused on supporting children who have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).
This project is focused on three main goals – donating $1,000 to The Last Juice Box Project, donating gift baskets to Children’s Hospital for newly-diagnosed T1D children, and donating emergency diabetic kits to local schools. To support the project, the group started with a t-shirt sale to help raise money, along with volunteering at a The Last Juice Box Project event to raise money for kids with diabetes. Students, teachers, and community members wore their Support Squad t-shirts on November 14th for National Diabetes Day.
With the success of the t-shirt sale, the chapter has been able to put together care packages/emergency kits to donate to local schools. In every package there are 2 packs of juice boxes, 2 boxes of crackers, 1 pack of crayons, 1 pack of Slim Jims, and 1 notepad.
On January 27th, the CSP team will be hosting a Blue Night at the CK Boys JH, JV, and Varsity basketball games. During that event, there will be a basket raffle and other items to help raise money in hopes of donating $1000 to The Last Juice Box Project, as well as buying supplies for more care packages that will be donated to Children's Hospital, in Pittsburgh. If you are interested in helping with this project in any way, please reach out to advisor Matthew Claar (mclaar@cksdbulldogs.com).
