E-Matters September 2025
Dear North Penn,
What an incredible start to the school year! The first day of school is always one of the highlights of my year. Seeing the excitement buzzing through our schools is always a great way to get re-energized and ready for another busy year.
We have two programs coming back this year to recognize members of our community that you’ll read more about below in this newsletter. This Veterans Day we are once again conferring high school diplomas for veterans who left high school to serve in the United States military. These diplomas represent the incredible sacrifice made by those who chose to pause their education and serve their country. Any honorably discharged veterans of World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War are welcome to apply, even if they did not attend North Penn High School but they live in this community now. We are also proud to confer a diploma posthumously and honor your family members.
Also returning this Spring is the Knights of Honor program. This celebrates alumni, former staff, or community members who have brought honor and outstanding service to the district and their community. We are currently accepting nominations for the Knights of Honor Class of 2026 and I look forward to seeing the excellent individuals nominated for this program. Information on Knights of Honor and Veterans Day can be found below.
Finally, a quick word on North Penn High School renovations. Phase one is right on track and I am pleased to say we are on schedule for a re-opening of the natatorium and third floor of K-Pod just after Thanksgiving. We began with these areas as they needed the least amount of work, and therefore the least amount of planning and permits in order to begin. Work on the rest of the building will begin in phases two and three, and I encourage the community to keep up with our progress in these newsletters, on social media, and at our board meetings.
Thank you for a great first month of the school year. I look forward to continuing this year together, united and focused on our mission: empowering each student who comes through our doors to reach their fullest potential.
Sincerely,
Todd Bauer, Ed.D.
Superintendent
North Penn School District

Summer Programs
Each August, we get to start fresh with a brand new school year full of possibilities for our 13,000 students. While we often focus on the first day of school, it’s important to recognize all the work that happens before that day to help our students start strong. North Penn runs several programs in the summer designed to give students the support and confidence they need to succeed.
For our youngest learners, Kindergarten Readiness Camp is a 2 week experience that helps children ease into what school will feel like. They practice routines like lining up on the playground, starting the day with morning meetings and exploration stations, eating lunch in the cafeteria, and even getting on a school bus.
Our SPARK (Summer Program for Academic Readiness for Knights) Summer Program is a 5 week program that is designed for elementary students who might need a little more practice or a boost before the new school year. In this 2.5-hour daily program, students get extra support in math and reading through targeted small group and individualized instruction. Just as important, they build friendships, create a sense of community, and connect with students from other schools all in a fun, encouraging environment.
For our multilingual learners just beginning their journey with English, our ELD Summer Camp offers a small group setting where students are immersed in conversation, academic language, and daily school routines. In addition to building English skills and confidence, students are introduced to aspects of American culture and school life, helping them feel more connected and prepared to participate in their new learning environments.
All of these programs have one thing in common: they help students feel seen, supported, and ready to learn. Our incredible teachers and staff who lead these programs give their time and talent to make sure every child feels prepared and welcomed when school begins Because of these meaningful summer experiences, so many of our students walked into school this fall ready to learn, connect, and shine.
Ensuring Belonging
NPSD Searching for Veterans
The North Penn School District Board of School Directors is looking for a few good men and women. For the first time since 2021 (pictured here), the board will confer high school diplomas to United States veterans who left high school before graduating to serve in the United States armed services.
The ceremony will be held on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th, 2025. It is open to honorably discharged veterans of World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War currently living in the North Penn School District or who lived in NPSD before leaving high school for the armed services. Veterans do not need to have attended North Penn High School to qualify. Diplomas can also be conferred posthumously.
Veterans or family members of veterans interested in participating should contact the NPSD Office of School/Community Services at 215-853-1020 by Friday, October 10th to arrange for a diploma and participation in the ceremony. For verification purposes, copies of discharge papers will be requested for all of those participating.
