Sunday Announcement!

Hello Navigators!

I am so proud of our students and staff for a successful first week of school. I thank everyone for your patience with procedures especially on the first day of school. We saw drastic improvements with arrival and dismissal through the week and will continue to refine practices to ensure students are safe and we are as efficient as possible.

Traffic is so frustrating for all of us especially at dismissal. Please be patient and know that for the last few days dismissal was completed in about 20 minutes, although it feels longer. Safety is the most important factor and what we must emphasize at all times. During dismissal if you choose to leave your car please find a parking spot. Otherwise, stay in your vehicle and staff will call for and guide your children to your vehicle. If you exit your car please keep a good distance from our exit gates so students can be walked out. Together with patience we can make it all work.

PTO

We will have our first PTO meeting of the year on Wednesday at 6 PM. It will be held virtually and a meeting code will be sent out Wednesday prior to the meeting. The PTO does so much for Nichols and could really use your support. Hope to see you there.

If you have not already done so, please visit https://alternateincome.oside.us to complete this form Alternative Household Income Form. Information from this form directly affects the school funding that provides resources for your child’s education.

After School Achievement Program (ASAP)

The After School Achievement Program, ASAP, provides Before & After School care. If you are interested in enrolling your scholar(s), please contact ASAP by calling 760-916-5224 or emailing nichols@asaposide.com. Space is limited for students in kindergarten-5th grade.

School Device Insurance

Nichols and OUSD is now able to provide every student with a device. These devices will be used both in school and at times with homework. We will ensure everyone has a device within the first few weeks of school. See this link for low cost insurance options for student devices.
