Greetings Pirate Families,
Welcome to the first week of the second quarter!
I hope everyone enjoyed a restful weekend and is ready to begin the new quarter strong. This is a great time for students to set new academic goals, recommit to good attendance, and continue to show our Riverside Core Values—Pride, Integrity, Relationships, Accountability, Teaching & Learning, and Empowerment in all they do. Let’s make this next chapter of the school year our best one yet!

Shout-out to Ms. K and the Student Services team for guiding students through CFNC Free College Application Week!
Congratulations to our Ultimate Frisbee Team for hosting the first-ever home game on Riverside’s campus!
Kudos to Ms. Ballon and the students for organizing a vibrant Hispanic Culture Night filled with dance, poetry, and delicious food.
Big congrats to the Flag Football Team for becoming Conference Champions after defeating Southern 28–15!
Applause to the 22 Riverside students who auditioned for and were selected to join the DPS All-County Band!
A special recognition to our senior Marching Band, Cheerleading, and Football members who were honored on Senior Night — thank you for your leadership and dedication!
Athletics Update
Congratulations to the Women’s Flag Football Team for defeating Southern Durham to win the Durham County Championship!
Congratulations to the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams for their outstanding performances at the Regional Championships. The Men’s team placed 2nd, and the Women’s team placed 4th in the region — both teams will advance to the State Championships! Way to go, Pirates!
This week is Senior Night for our Riverside Soccer Team as they face off against Northern. Come out and help us celebrate our seniors and cheer on the team!
Riverside Football will travel to Northern Durham on Thursday for their matchup. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. Let’s pack the stands and show our Pirate pride!
