Message from Mr. Schmidt, Principal
Dear Bryan Middle School Families:
As we enter the final week of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust throughout the year. It has been a year filled with growth, learning, and countless moments that have made us proud to be part of the Bryan Bears community. This last week is an important one. We encourage all students to finish strong by attending school each day, staying engaged in their classes, and completing any remaining assignments. Our staff is committed to making these final days meaningful, while also celebrating the accomplishments and progress our students have made.
Starting on Monday, 5/18, students will only need to bring their iPad, a writing utensil, and notebooks they may need for class. Students will not be allowed to bring a backpack. Female students may bring a small purse for personal items. Students that bring their own lunch may bring a lunch bag. Wednesday, May 20th will be our Fun Day. Students will be participating in several rotations to celebrate the end of the year. Those failing classes may not be able to participate unless they improve their failing grade(s).
Thank you again for being such an important part of our school community. I appreciate your support during my first year as the principal at Bryan Middle. It is an amazing community and I look forward to continuing to serve our students, staff, and families next year and beyond. We wish all of our families a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer. Please remind your student(s) to be responsible, respectful, safe, and their best all day every day!
Sincerely,
Anton Schmidt
Principal

Non-School Items
As we move through the final week of the school year, we ask for your support in reminding students to leave non-school items at home. Items such as toys, trading cards, personal electronics, and other non-essential belongings can become distractions and may be lost, damaged, or cause disruptions during the school day. Students are not allowed to bring items to sell or trade.
Our focus is on maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment for all students. Bringing only necessary school materials helps us keep that focus where it belongs—on learning.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation with your student.
iPads
Students remaining in OPS will keep their iPads over the summer. Encourage your student to take care of it as they will be responsible if it is lost or damaged. Also, we recommend limiting screen time every day and to have students enjoy time outside.
We are missing several loaner iPads. These iPads have red cases on them. If you find one at home, please have your student return it to school to avoid a fine. Thank you!
Thank you
A heartfelt thank you to all of the parents who generously donated to our Staff Appreciation Week in support of the amazing staff here at Bryan Middle School. Your kindness, generosity, and support helped make the week extra special for our teachers and staff members.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Omaha Storm Chasers, The Amazing Pizza Machine, Fontenelle Forest, The Durham Museum, and The Good Life Sports Bar & Grill for their wonderful donations and support of our Staff Appreciation Week. Your generosity and community support are truly appreciated and helped us celebrate the incredible educators and staff who make a difference every day at Bryan Middle School.
6th Grade Tech and Living News
In 6th Grade Introduction to Technology and Living class, students were introduced to the fundamentals of using a sewing machine. Throughout the unit, students learned about the different parts of the machine, how to properly thread it, and how the machine operates safely and effectively.
Students applied these new skills by creating two hands-on sewing projects: hot and cold rice bags and personalized lanyards. These projects allowed students to practice important sewing techniques while building confidence, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
The creativity and effort students demonstrated throughout this unit were outstanding, and the final projects turned out great! Students should be very proud of the valuable life skills they developed through this hands-on learning experience.
8th Grade Tech and Living News
In 8th Grade Technology and Living class, students have been hard at work developing valuable hand sewing and design skills through a variety of creative projects. Throughout the unit, students created a felt pouch, a felt animal, and designed their very own unique felt monsters. These hands-on projects allowed students to apply important sewing techniques they learned in class, including threading a needle, sewing buttons, and using a variety of hand stitches.
The creativity, effort, and craftsmanship displayed in each project were truly outstanding. Students demonstrated patience, problem-solving, and attention to detail while bringing their designs to life. These projects not only strengthened practical life skills, but also encouraged creativity, confidence, and pride in their work. The final projects turned out absolutely amazing, and students should be very proud of all they accomplished throughout this sewing unit!
