Lunch Rules

Springdale High School in NOT an open campus lunch. Students must remain on campus and are not allowed to leave the building to eat lunch or go to their cars during lunch and during Advisory or Flex Time. At SHS, we have three lunches to help provide all students with adequate space in the cafeteria. We encourage students to either bring their own food or eat in the cafeteria. If a parent wishes to “drop off” lunch, it should be delivered to the front lobby. Due to safety and the "No Cell Bell to Bell" legislation, we will not allow "Door Dash" and other food deliveries this year.

Cell Phone Policy - Updated

In Spring 2025, Governor Sanders signed the "No Cell, Bell to Bell" Act 122 which requires schools to strictly limit student use of personal electronic devices during the school day. This applies to cell phones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, and other personal electronic devices.

If students bring these items to school, they will be expected to keep them turned off and put away for the entire school day—from the first bell to the last. According to the policy, a student may keep the device in a backpack or locker.

Please note: If a parent needs to contact his/her student, then parents may call the office at 750-8832. We will relay the message to the student or have the individual come to the office to use the phone. If a student is found using a cell phone during the school day, then the following actions will occur:

1st Offense - The phone will be confiscated and kept in the office until the end of the school day. A parent will be notified. Discipline issued.

2nd Offense - The phone will be confiscated and kept in the office until a parent can pick up the device. Discipline issued.

3rd Offense - The phone will be confiscated and kept in the office until a parent can pick up the device. The student must turn in the phone to the office at the beginning of the school day thereafter. Discipline issued.

Community Service Learning

Arkansas Code Annotated §6-16-1901 states that “beginning with the graduating class of 2027, a public high school student shall complete a minimum of seventy-five (75) clock hours of documented community service in grades nine through twelve (9-12), as certified by the service agency or organization with which the public school student volunteers, in order to graduate.

These hours accumulate starting in the summer between a student's 8th and 9th grade year and must be completed by the end of the senior year in order to graduate. If you were a 9th grade student in a Springdale junior high school last year, you likely completed 15 or more hours toward this requirement.

Just a reminder, CSL hours are not required to graduate for the graduating class of 2026. However, if students complete 75 hours of documented community service, then they qualify for an honor cord at graduation and an elective credit on their transcript.

A list of community partners that have contacted Springdale High School with potential CSL opportunities is available by scanning the QR code. In addition, if you regularly volunteer at your church, assisted living facilities, the animal shelter, or other area agencies, then these hours will likely qualify toward this 75 hour graduation requirement.

Springdale High School uses an online platform called InnerView for students to document their CSL hours. You will also find instructions for setting up an InnerView account and recording CSL hours by scanning the QR code.
