Message from Walker Administration
Dearest Walker Families,
WALKERS GOT TALENT! Our Stars were shining brightly during the PTA Variety Show. Thank you to Mrs. Lindsey Lawrence and her volunteer team for making this awesome opportunity possible for our school community. Check out the pictures on Facebook.
We extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our school community! We're incredibly proud of our readers and grateful for your support, which made our fundraiser a success. Our students had a wonderful time reading. We can't wait to host another Read-A-Thon next year! Students are able to shop in the RAT Prize Store online until March 9th. An AMAZING 120,674 minutes were logged during our Read-A-Thon, we surpassed our goal of 100,000. We raised $29,759.00! Students get 15% to spend in the RAT Store and the school will receive $22,319.25. The funds will support Intervention & Enrichment Small Groups; Campus Culture & Environment; Book Vending Machine for Students; Indoor Recess Kits.
This week the PTA will host the Spring Fling Carnival - hope you can join us! Good news! They are keeping Spring Fling sales open through the weekend. Get your tickets ahead of time by Sunday (3/1) night at midnight. Individual Tickets: $10 each Family: $40

Attendance Matters!
Studies show that excessive absences can negatively impact a child's education, including the loss of teacher-led lessons, peer interactions, and academic achievement. While we do not want our students to attend school if they are sick, please help us make punctuality and daily attendance a priority for your Star/s regarding all other circumstances. Should you need to keep your child home for any reason, please click the button below to report an absence.
MISD School Safety
MISD School Safety
A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the uniform classroom response to any incident. Weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by all McKinney ISD schools and District Administration and staff. Historically, schools have taken this scenario-based approach to respond to hazards and threats. Each McKinney ISD classroom is furnished with the Standard Response Protocol poster that provides teachers with readily accessible response procedures and provides information during a crisis event. The attached handout explains Standard Response Protocol that is taught to students, faculty and staff.

NOTE: A free Membership Toolkit account is required, & if you already have one, it will need to be updated for this school year before you proceed.

Volunteer Information
As a service to McKinney ISD students and families, the district provides the Community Folder for school related, non-school related, and non-profit organizations. Electronic communication has become standard and is preferred by many parents; the schools are sharing more and more information via email as a convenience to parents. This also cuts back on paper coming home in folders. Information posted and accepted must be youth-oriented and will be reviewed and approved by the Communications Department. Updates will be posted often, so we ask that you check back for the latest opportunities and information from our community.
