At HWES, we know that trying our hardest makes us a HERO! We don't have to be perfect, we just need to give our best effort, learn from our mistakes, and keep going. We are so proud of the effort our HEROES are showing each day!

A few important reminders to help our school day run smoothly:
🦔Arrival: All PreK–5th grade students who arrive through the car rider line & bus must use the designated entrance door (Door #12).
🦔Assisting your student to class: At this time, parents may no longer walk students into the building. If you need to enter the school, please check in with a photo ID through the front office and receive a visitor pass.
🦔Start Time: Our school day begins promptly at 7:40 a.m. Please plan to arrive with enough time for your child to enter the building and be ready to learn.
🦔Dismissal: Our car rider line runs from 2:30–3:00 p.m. Please plan accordingly when picking up your child.

Thank you for helping us create safe, consistent routines for all of our HEROES. When we work together and try our hardest, we make HWES a better place for everyone!

1. Students may enter the building beginning at 7:10am and the tardy bell will ring at 7:40am. Dismissal will begin at 2:30pm.
2. Breakfast will be served each morning in the cafeteria from 7:10am-7:35am for K-5th grade students. Students must arrive NO LATER than 7:30am to enjoy breakfast.
3. Preschool students will eat breakfast in the cafeteria beginning at 7:35am.
4. All students will enter the school through Door #12 each morning except the following classes:

• Mrs. McLeod & Mr. Dadulla - 3K preschool
• Ms. Robinson & Ms. Phillips - 4K preschool
• Mrs. Dickerson & Ms. Jennings' classes

The office will be open from 7am - 3:30pm, unless otherwise posted.

iReady Inform Math (K-5th grades)

PTO meeting at 8am

Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will take the iReady Inform test this year.

We successfully completed the reading iReady inform test this week.

This test helps teachers find out what students know, understand what they are ready or need to learn and how to make the best use of their learning time.

Visit Handel's Homemade Ice Cream on Harbison Boulevard on Monday, August 24th from 4pm to 7pm for our first PTO spirit night of the year. Flyers were sent home today in your student's folder.

All students will receive FREE breakfast and lunch during the 2026-2027 school year.

Afternoon Safari offers 3 "safety net" days for all of our parents (even if your student does not attend Afternoon Safari. Please see this document for more information and directions for these three days. A completed form must be on file to utilize this service. For more information about Afternoon Safari, please contact Josh Brewton at 803-213-1187.
