PTO Fundraising Update
We are so grateful for the many families who have already supported the PTO’s Champions for Children fundraiser! This is one of the PTO’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and it replaces the need to sell items like wrapping paper, candy, or popcorn. Because this takes the place of those sales, we’re asking for your help in spreading the word.
Please consider forwarding this message to grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and friends. Encourage them to give in place of being asked to purchase something!
Principal's Update
Dear Bellerive Families,
Thank you for rolling with last Monday’s surprise power outage and unexpected school closure. While I know it was probably a day of joy for the kids, I also recognize the disruption it may have caused to your schedules. I truly appreciate your flexibility and understanding. We’re glad the rest of the week unfolded smoothly.
This week brings a number of important deadlines for sign-ups, purchases, and more for clubs, spirit wear, flu shots, and book orders. One important item is Culture Night. We’re still looking for additional families to help host tables and share their traditions. All the details can be found below.
This week we turn the calendar to October, and with colder weather on the way, students will be bringing more coats, sweatshirts, and layers to school. I came across a post on social media and thought you’d appreciate it too. It's a great reminder to please take a moment to label your child’s clothing. If it’s not a base layer (meaning it can be taken off during the school day), labeling helps us reunite items with their owners much more easily! I highly recommend using a permanent marker or a fabric pen like this one. Buying a fabric pen or marker could be a great investment compared to replacing clothing items!
In Partnership,
Joey Kneer

St. Louis County Library Storytelling Festival
Thursday, November 13th for Grades K and 3rd
Bellerive has the opportunity to be a part of the St. Louis County Library Storytelling Festival! Our storyteller will be Kenya Ajanaku. He is a nationally known drummer and storyteller whose talents have captivated his audiences for over 26 years. His signature program, "Rhythms and Folklore of Africa," is a unique combination of storytelling, drumming, and dance. As Founder and Executive Director of Harambee Institute, Kenya teaches children and adults alike in the importance of African history and culture. We will host Mr. Ajanaku for kindergarten and third grade students. Click here to learn more. Please email Liz Zahnweh at lzahnweh@parkwayschools.net to opt out.

REMINDERS
Upcoming SEL Survey
As part of our ongoing commitment to student well-being, Parkway administers two social-emotional learning (SEL) surveys to students in grades 3–12. Your child will complete this 10-15 minute survey during regular school hours during the windows of September 22 through October 17 and March 13 through April 17. (Bellerive students will complete the first survey the week of October 6.)
Even though students in kindergarten through second grade do not take this survey, their teachers will complete a brief perception survey (as teachers at all grade levels do) to provide additional insight into their social-emotional strengths and growth areas.
This research-based survey helps us better understand how students are feeling about school, relationships, and learning so we can more effectively support their success. You will receive information about your child’s results later in the fall.
All survey responses are confidential and are only accessed by authorized school personnel. The data is never shared with outside parties and is not used to diagnose or label students.
To review questions that will appear on the survey, there is an FAQ page that also provides additional information requested by some parents last year. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Erin Schulte-Hamilton, Parkway's Coordinator of Counseling and Character Education, via eschulte@parkwayschools.net.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting every student's growth and success.
Attendance Counts!
