WY SkillsUSA Wednesday Update
February 26, 2025

Registration is NOW OPEN for the 2025 State Leadership and Skills Conference!
Registration closes March 10th
Share it with your members, today!
It is a living document; please do not print as updates are made weekly for you within the links provided.
Have your competitors seen the Technical Standards?
A common and unfortunate theme in our competition feedback from judges and technical chairmen is that registered competitors were ill-prepared or worse, had no idea what they were doing.
If you have not provided the technical standards in areas of interest to your members, this is a disservice to your members, our judges, and our organization.
Members should feel confident and prepared in all areas listed in a competition's Technical Standards or the advisor should reserve said student for the following year.

Chapter Excellence Program: Level 2 - Due March 10
This second level recognizes chapters that choose to go beyond baseline requirements, and Chapter of Distinction award winners may earn bronze, silver or gold level of this award. Chapters in each state receiving a gold “Chapter of Distinction” award are eligible for national selection as a Models of Excellence chapter. These chapters define excellence. Best practices will be gleaned from the award winners and shared with the field to serve as models for other chapters to emulate in strengthening their local programs. Eight chapters will be chosen to represent each component of the SkillsUSA Framework (Personal, Workplace and Technical Skills), and one winner representing each component will be chosen at SkillsUSA’s National Leadership & Skills Conference.

Did You Know That SkillsUSA is Recognized by WHSAA?
Wyoming High School Activities Association
SkillsUSA is a recognized activity of the WHSAA, therefore, your school district should be covering travel and hotel expenses.
- Local Budget Control: Funding for activities is under the control of local districts, leading to variations in budget allocations and potential resistance to changes. If you are a victim of funding falling only to athletic programs, reach to local business and industry support and turn the tide!
