Dear Littlestown High School Families:
As we turn the page and enter the second semester, I am pleased to share that Littlestown High School continues to move forward in many positive ways. Our students and teachers are hard at work each day, accomplishing outstanding things in the classroom. In addition, we are seeing significant progress on the construction project. The work looks excellent and will provide new and exciting opportunities for our secondary students for years to come.
February is a month that reminds us of the importance of connection, kindness, and perseverance. Whether we are supporting one another during the winter months, celebrating student achievements, or preparing for upcoming academic milestones, our focus remains on maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
As we move through the third marking period, I encourage students to remain focused on their goals and to seek assistance whenever needed. Our teachers, counselors, and support staff are always available and deeply committed to student success. To our parents and guardians, thank you for your continued partnership and support—it truly makes a difference.
Dr. Nathan Becker
Principal, Littlestown High School
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
LHS- Attendance DYK
Did you know???
Missing just two days of high school per month adds up to over a full year of lost instruction by graduation, severely impacting future success.
Chronic absence: missing 10% or more of school (18 days or more)—is a leading predictor of dropping out. Good attendance in 9th grade predicts graduation rates better than 8th-grade test scores.
Key Facts About High School Attendance:
Impact on Graduation: Nearly 90% of freshmen who miss less than a week per semester graduate on time, a rate that drops significantly with increased absences.
Academic Consequences: Missing 18+ days a year (chronic absence) results in lower proficiency in reading, writing, and math.
Long-Term Impact: Poor attendance is linked to lower performance in the job market, as employers may interpret it as a lack of discipline.
Why Attendance Matters:
Consistency: Missing school causes students to fall behind in curriculum, making it harder to catch up.
Engagement: Chronic absence is often driven by lack of support, health challenges, or disengagement.
Success Factors: Good attendance is crucial for building relationships, accessing resources, and maintaining academic momentum.

The Bullying Prevention Program at LHS is in its ninth year, and student data continues to reflect the success of the program. Started in 2017, BPP has a goal of addressing bullying, preventing future behaviors, and ensuring that all students feel safe when they enter Littlestown High School. LASD policy defines bullying as harmful behaviors that are severe and/or persistent. So far this year, we have had 21 reports of bullying through the Bullying Prevention Program (BPP) at LHS. This is a significant drop from previous years at this time (55 reports in Jan 2025, 31 reports in Jan 2024, 31 reports in Jan 2023). Based on midyear data, we believe this drop in reports correlates to an improvement in school climate.
As of December 2025, 87% of responding students indicated they had not experienced bullying/harassment. Since the creation of the program, 94% of our reports stop after the initial response/warning. We can not respond to incidents that are not reported, so we encourage students and staff to make reports through the Bullying Prevention Program. To Report Bullying at LHS: Click Here
OCCUPATIONAL VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION & PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION SERVICES
What is OVR?
OVR is a government agency that provides services to individuals who have a diagnosed disability. OVR offers services that allow adults to "prepare for, obtain or maintain employment." At the high school level, OVR offers transition planning to students.
What are Pre-ETS services?
"Pre-employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) help students learn about themselves, practice work skills, explore training options and choose a job...A group of students may be referred to OVR by school staff in collaboration with their local district office. A completed Pre-ETS Referral Form is required for each student.
How do I connect with OVR and/or Pre-ETS?
- 2/03/2026 & 3/03/2026: OVR representative Hailey Miller will meet with eligible students
- 2/18/2026 & 3/18/2026: Pre-ETS representative Ashley Rader will meet with eligible students
How do I get more information about OVR and/or Pre-ETS & do I qualify? Contact Mrs. Rodriguez

With winter weather fast approaching please be sure that your students are wearing proper clothing and footwear for the weather and being cautious when walking and driving in the winter weather. Also, remember that the temperature in the building can be unpredictable as well, so please be sure that your students have water bottles with them so that they can stay hydrated and are dressed appropriately for the temperature in the school. If your student forgets their water bottle, the Counseling Office Care Closet has free refillable water bottles.
Reminder students can not carry any medications with them in school. This includes cough drops and over the counter medications like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, vitamins, or supplements. If your student needs to have medication or needs a cough drop, Tylenol or Ibuprofen, they can visit the health room for these medications. According to school policy all medication must be brought in by a parent / guardian and the parent / guardian will need to sign the medication in with the health office.
The health room does not have any allergy/cold medicine. If your child needs allergy/cold medicine please be sure that they are taking it prior to coming to school and that it will last for 8 hours to get the student through the day.
If you have a student that is in 11th grade, please turn in their physical forms to the health office along with an updated immunization form if you have not already done so.
Please be sure that your student(s) are eating breakfast in the morning so that they can have the fuel they need to get through the morning and be ready to learn. Breakfast is free for all students this year in the cafeteria. Please remind students that breakfast is a great way to fuel themselves for the day!
If your student is in need of seeing the dentist, the mobile dentist will be here for the last time this school year on February 25, 2026. Click here to sign up.
