Principal Message
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Happy Friday! It looks like it is finally going to be a beautiful weekend. I hope you find time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air! Tonight is our WCS School Dance, and we have over 300 students attending the event. We are very excited for the evening. It is always wonderful to see everyone dressed up, engaging with one another, and enjoying time together without phones and technology. A huge thank you goes out to my administrative team, office staff, and all those attending the event to support our students for this exciting night. It would not have been possible without them. We would also like to thank all of the families who donated items to the PTA in support of the dance. Your generosity and support are truly appreciated.
Our sixth grade students did an amazing job at the Asia Culture Fair this week, and we were incredibly impressed with the turnout of family and community members. The students worked very hard on their projects, and the added touches of traditional outfits and food representing their countries were outstanding. It was a fantastic celebration of culture, learning, and community.
It has been a very exciting and productive week at Center School!
We also want to thank you for your support and flexibility as we navigated SAS testing this week. Our students did a fantastic job showing perseverance, focus, and determination throughout the testing process. We are very proud of the effort they put forth and the positive attitudes they demonstrated each day. SAS testing will continue next week. Please see the SAS schedule below to help your child be prepared for each testing day. Students should arrive to school on time, have a healthy breakfast, bring their headphones and a charged Chromebook.
All 5th grade students participating in the School House Rock performance at WHS on Friday, May 29th, must have a completed Electronic Permission Slip for this event. Please visit your student’s PowerSchool account to complete this form if you have not already done so.
As a reminder, please be sure to check the Lost and Found. All remaining items will be donated on June 17.
Also, please take a moment to review the May and June dates below, as this is an especially busy and exciting time of year at Center School with many upcoming events and activities.
Thank you again for your continued partnership and support. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warm regards,
B.J. Martin

Senior Assassins Important Message
We would like to bring to your attention that there is an annual water game, not affiliated with our school, that some of our junior and senior students are participating in outside of school hours.
We would like our parents to be aware and to have appropriate conversations with their children about safety and respect for our community. This game is forbidden on school grounds. If this game takes place on a school campus, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken to ensure everyone's safety.
Thank you for your ongoing support and participation in keeping our students and community safe.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Dear Parents/Guardians & WCS Students,
As the warmer weather arrives, we’d like to remind all students and families about the Windham School District dress code. All tops, midsections, and bottoms must be appropriately covered at all times.
If a student is not dressed according to the dress code, they will be asked to call home. If a parent or guardian is unable to bring appropriate clothing to school, the student will be asked to select an item from the clothing bin available in the nurse’s office.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a respectful and appropriate learning environment.

Registration for the Windham School District Summer Camps
Registration for the Windham School District summer camps is now open! Visit the website today for more information. These camp programs will be available for all students for five weeks this summer. Students can try something new, plan with a friend, make new friends, and enjoy their summer adventures at any of our camps. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Tenhagen at WSD_SummerCamps@windhamsd.org.
Registration closes on June 5th!
Center School Field Day
The Center School Field Day is Monday June 8th (with a rain date of June 9th).
We are in need of parent volunteers for the Center School Field Day Monday June 8th (rain date Tuesday June 9th) to have a successful day. We have had great responses in the past, and hope this year will be the same.
Volunteers (with a staff member and possibly another parent) will lead a 30 minute station.
Assistance may also be provided from another teacher or staff member (who will rotate to that activity with their class). Directions/rules will be provided. Some stations are outside, some are inside, and activities range from "Name that Tune" to "Scooter Board Hockey" to Capture the Football”, so please bring sneakers and be ready for some fun!
If you are available to help for the entire school day from 7:45am-2:00pm please use the link below to register to volunteer.
Both the Vector Training (annually from the prior completion date) & the fingerprinting/background check must be completed/up-to-date to volunteer.
WCS Field Day Parent Volunteer Form
-We will confirm volunteers (as long as there is a cleared background on file with the district and the Vector training is complete), and more details will be emailed to you between a week prior to the event.
If you have not been cleared to volunteer with the district yet, please go to https://www.windhamsd.org/resources/parents/volunteer_information for instructions (the turn around time takes 3-4 weeks for fingerprints and background checks).
Please email with any questions.
