Saint Anselm Newsletter Week 11
October 23, 2026
The end of quarter 1 and parent teacher conferences are just around the corner.
The Principal's Perspective
What an amazing week. Special persons day was a wonderful success. So many people came and joined us. The church was packed. Later on Monday, the girls volleyball team played their playoff game and attendance was wonderful. Thursday, so many of us ate at Red Robin. It was great to see so many families there. Friday was the pink out. It was fantastic. The mom and dad's club and our students and staff raised 257 dollars for the charity.
Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up. Thursday teachers will be available from 12:30PM - 7PM and on Friday, they will be available from 8 AM to 3 PM. The upper hall will be seeing students as a team so they can talk about the student in all their classes. Please make sure you sign up for a conference time. If a teacher does not have conferences for a stretch of time, they are not required to be at the school. Therefore walk-ins will not be available.
We have lunch and dinner covered for Thursday. If anyone would be willing to help with Friday lunch that would be great.
Just a reminder that an avenue of communication is Ed Panel. Please, if you have any feedback and do not want to give it to me directly, feel free to contact any of the 3 email addresses, lower hall, upper hall, or Edpanel. Everyone's voice is important. The email addresses are below in this newsletter.
There have been a lot of questions regarding background checks. A background check must be done every year. Why? When a person is finger printed, there is what is call wrap back services. This means that once you have been fingerprinted, if you something is added to that background check, the entity is notified. With our background checks, there is no such service, so we need to check every year. This is why schools will be moving towards fingerprinting vs a standard background check. Thank you for your cooperation.
Halloween
A friendly reminder that classroom Halloween parties will take place on October 30! While students may not wear costumes, they are welcome to wear school-appropriate Halloween shirts. Please ensure that shirts do not contain graphic or gory images or anything that may be frightening or inappropriate for our youngest students to see. Thank you for helping us keep the celebration fun and appropriate for all ages!
Veterans Day
We did not receive any RSVPs for having a veterans mass on Monday, November 9, so mass on November 9 will be a regular school mass. Instead, on November 11, we will be having a red, white, and blue day. Students may wear red, white and blue for $2 each. The money collected will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Mass
We will be celebrating mass every Monday for the rest of the year. Please join us. The church doors will be locked at 8:30 for safety reasons. Mass on Monday will include adoration afterwards.
If you are picking up your student early, please make sure that you contact the office at least 30 minutes prior to pickup time. It is wonderful if you contact the teacher, but more important that you contact the office.
Just a reminder any billing for lunch or breakfast (early childhood) or for extra slices of pizza (all students) is done through the AOD food program website. https://4.files.edl.io/15b2/08/24/23/155752-5455dc5a-8fd3-4e56-a0d3-43d50b3e72e4.pdf

Councilor's Corner
If you have ever wondered about additional ways to support your child’s emotional well-being, here is a wonderful opportunity to learn more. A free workshop will be offered in November for parents and educators, providing practical strategies to help support children’s emotional well-being.
Although this workshop is not sponsored by the school, we wanted to share this valuable community resource with families who may find it helpful.

Are you missing something?
Our lost and found is continuing to grow. Please put your student's name into their school clothing so that we can get it back to the correct student. While this will help going forward, it does not help these poor lost articles of clothing who just want to go home.

Volunteers Needed
We are in need of volunteers. Here are some early ways to earn those volunteer hours. Please do not wait until the last minute to get your volunteer hours in, as life tends to get in the way during the spring.
Lunch and recess. We are in need volunteers for lunch and recess. This is from 11:30 AM to 1 PM daily. If you are interested, you can call the office or email either bowens@saintanselmschool.org or psteven@saintanselmschool.org to volunteer.
Student Clubs: If there is a club that you would like to be the coordinator of, please contact the office. The time spent on this does count towards service hours.
I have had several parents ask me if grandparents or aunts and uncles can do service hours. The key is that they need to have a background check and have taken Protecting Gods Children.
Just a reminder that all families are required to work 8 service hours during the year and 2 shifts during the festival. Any of the 8 hours not completed will be shifted to fair hours. Hours not worked by the end of the fair will result in a charge of $35 per hour not worked. Also, hours worked for concessions for sports, or grade level specific fundraisers do not count toward the 8 hours for the year as those fundraisers are designed to pay for camp or the 8th grade trip.
Background Checks and Protecting God's Children
Just a reminder that in order to work with students, or volunteer, you will need to be up to date on Protecting Gods Children and your background check.
If you are not sure where you stand with Protecting Gods Children, you can either check by logging into your Virtus account, https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/index.cfm? or reach out to psteven@saintanselmschool.org.
We are required to have an up to date background check for all parents who wish to volunteer or work with children. The standard background check is done online and will cost you nothing. Please email bowens@saintanselmschool.org or psteven@saintanselmschool.org for more information.
