Cell Phones at MIS
In accordance with the Brighton Area Schools Cell Phone policy, our students at MIS are permitted to bring their cell phones to school. We recognize the necessity and importance of family communication, but unfortunately ringing cell phones and the temptations of new games, cameras, and the technology that accompanies cell phones can present a distraction for your student and/or others in their classes.
Therefore, at MIS our students:
- Turn off cell phones at the beginning of the day and place them in their backpack.
- Students may NOT use cell phones from 8:50am-3:38pm.
- Utilize the main office phone to contact parents in the event of an emergency. Students may not contact a parent during that time from their cell phone. They MUST visit the office to contact parents.
- Smart watches must not be connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data during the school day.
We have had great success in keeping Maltby a distraction-free learning environment by following these procedures. In addition, we ask that parents please refrain from calling or texting their student during the school day.
Any messages of an emergency nature can be relayed to students through the front office at 810 299-3600. Please call before 3:05pm to ensure your child receives the message!
Thank you!
The PTO is a Parent/Teacher organization where all Maltby parents are members.
We welcome your ideas and participation!

Imagine being one of our 100+ staff members in the building with nearly 900 fifth and sixth graders for an entire school day! Believe it or not we are already moving into our 4th week of school. Let's show our amazing staff how grateful we are for their help in getting our students off to a great start this school year and help stock the staff lounge to energize them as the year goes on!
Follow this link to an Amazon wish list of suggested donations for our Maltby Staff Lounge Restock! Items on this list are set to be delivered directly to Maltby, but if you prefer Sams, Costco, or whatever store you frequent please drop off items to the office. Aim to have all items delivered by Friday October 10th so volunteers can organize and stock the lounge. Please reach out with any questions and thank you for helping support our staff!
If you still would like to donate to the PTO for the year, please do so at this link. Thank you all...we could not do this without your support!

Supporting Students through the McKinney-Vento Act
Brighton Area Schools is part of a county-wide consortium dedicated to supporting students who

TOOLS FOR VETERANS
Help us support military veterans!
If you have old tools that you no longer use or don't know what to do with, bring them to the Tools for Veterans trailer that will be parked in the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts parking lot prior to the show. They will be restored and put into the hands of people who will use them.
Don't miss out on Maltby emails!
All school communication will come from the "maltoff@brightonk12.com" email address, so be sure to save it to your favorites!
Please note: that email address is unmonitored, so if you need to communicate something to the school, please call the office at 810-299-3600 or email a staff member. Thank you!
