State Volleyball Tournament
On Wednesday, October 29th, our girls will play in the State Volleyball Tournament at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The address is 2340 CrossPlex Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35208. All games are single elimination. Our first game will be at 9:00 am.
With parent/guardian permission, we will permit our students in good standing to attend the 9:00 game. Students must still purchase their own ticket on GoFan. The student athletic pass only works for regular-season games and not playoffs.
A student in good standing is defined as:
On grade-level / on track to graduate
NO current cumulative average below 65%
NO unexcused absences for the 1st quarter
NO instances of ISD or OSS for the year
Steps to follow for an excused absence for State Volleyball:
Step 1 – Ensure your student is in good standing based upon the above criteria.
Step 2 - Complete the Google Form to indicate parent/guardian approval. This must be completed by 8:00 AM on Tuesday, October 28.
Step 3 – Students will meet an administrator at the Birmingham CrossPlex for sign-in before the first point is scored.
Step 4 - After the last point is scored, students must sign out with an HTHS administrator and return to school.
IMPORTANT: Students who do not sign in before the first point is scored and sign out after the last point is scored will not receive an excuse for the morning. Students must return to school after the game.
The HTHS PTSO will be hosting its first ever basketball fundraiser on Friday October 31st during pep rally schedule! It will be students versus teachers (admin, staff). From October 3rd until October 25th students can pay $10 for a chance to have their name entered into a lottery ($10=1 entry, $30=3 entries, etc. There is no limit)! There will be 4 quarters, 4 minutes each. We will randomly draw 3 boys and 2 girls to play each quarter against the teachers. Unfortunately no HTHS basketball players are allowed to play in this event, but they can assist as coaches! On Monday October 20th, we will start selling tickets for spectators for $5 a ticket. We will announce the teams closer to the event date! All tickets for this event are on Go Fan.
Let's Honor Our Veterans!
Veterans Day is coming up, and we want to celebrate the heroes in our own families! We are creating our annual Veterans Day Slideshow and invite you to share a photo and information about a veteran in your immediate family—a mother, father, brother, sister, step-parent, or step-sibling. This is a wonderful way to honor their service and sacrifice. It will be featured on our own HTHS TV Announcements as well as our Newsletter. Just click the link below to submit their details and a picture. Please be sure to do so by October 24, 2025. We can't wait to see your submissions and honor our local heroes.
