One Team. One Track. One Goal: Excellence for Every Student!

A Letter from the Principal

Dear Cougar Families,

It has been a bit of a strange week, but we were thrilled to be able to have our Winter Sports Pep Rally to recognize all of our students participating in winter athletics and activities. The energy was incredible, and it was so much fun celebrating the hard work and dedication of our Cougars. A huge congratulations to our 6th graders, who brought the spirit and earned the CMS Spirit Stick this time around - GREAT JOB, 6th grade!

As we settle back into our routine this week, students will take their Math Benchmark on Wednesday, December 17th. The Reading, Civics, and Science benchmarks will be administered when we return from Winter Break. Please remind your student to approach their Benchmarks with confidence and to give their very best effort. While these assessments are nothing to stress over, it is important that students take their time and do not rush. Our students have been working hard, and we want them to take these benchmarks seriously and try their best on every question.

It is especially important for students to show their work on the Math Benchmark. Students will receive scrap paper at the start of the assessment, and part of their grade will be based on demonstrating their work. Showing work for every problem helps teachers better understand student thinking and gives students the opportunity to earn credit even if their final answer is not correct. Benchmark assessments provide valuable information that helps our staff drive instruction and better meet the individual needs of each student.

Finally, I want to take a moment to share how incredibly proud we are of our students for showing up each day. Attendance truly matters, and our Cougars are proving that when they are here, they are learning, growing, and succeeding. We look forward to celebrating our perfect attendance students at the end of the first semester, and we encourage all students to keep that momentum strong. Keep up the great work, Cougars! Attendance matters!
