From the Plympton Admin Team

Hello, Families!

We completed our first five day week! Each day our routines are running a little more smoothly, and students are settling in beautifully! One thing we’ve noticed is that some of our younger students are still getting the hang of opening Tupperware and thermoses from home. While we have adults in the lunchroom ready to help, the students definitely outnumber us! A little practice at home can go a long way in helping them feel more independent at lunchtime.

Later this month, our students will participate in bus evacuation drills as part of our regular safety procedures. In addition, our School Resource Officer, Officer Dani, will be visiting classrooms to talk with students about the different types of school safety drills we practice throughout the year. These conversations are designed to be age-appropriate and to help students feel prepared and confident in the event of an emergency.

Looking into next week, our first PTO meeting is Tuesday, September 16th at 6:30. This meeting is held in person at Plympton. Wednesday, September 17th, is an early release day for students. Students are dismissed at 1:00pm.

We’d like to remind everyone that, for safety, families, students, and staff should remain on the sidewalk in front of the building during morning arrival. With four buses and five vans pulling up each day, it can be dangerous to walk in the street. Thank you for your attention to this and for helping us keep everyone safe!

**All events at Plympton require students must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. No drop-offs.

Fearless Foodies!

At Waltham School Nutrition, our mission is to nourish students with healthy, delicious meals and to create fun opportunities for them to explore new foods. From the cafeteria to the classroom, we’re proud to support students in building lifelong healthy habits.

We are excited to kick off another great year of the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP)! This program is offered at select Waltham elementary schools and gives students the chance to taste and enjoy a variety of free, fresh produce during the school day.

Did you know it can take 8–15 tries before a student learns to enjoy a new fruit or veggie? That’s why this program is such a wonderful opportunity—encouraging healthy habits, introducing new flavors, and helping students discover the foods that fuel their bodies.
