SPASH Newsletter
August 2026
Dear Students and SPASH Families:
I hope that this newsletter finds you and your family healthy and doing well. On behalf of all of the SPASH faculty and staff I would like to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year. I am excited and thankful to be starting another year and look forward to working with you and our students. The purpose of this communication is to help start the “back to school” process.
Please take a few minutes to read through the information in this communication and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. We are here to serve you and will work to help.
The first “back to school” task for everyone is to complete a two-part registration process. The first part of registration will require that a primary parent or guardian utilize Skyward Family Access and complete a series of required forms online prior to the in-person registration days at SPASH. This replaces most of the previous “paper” forms and processes and will hopefully simplify and streamline the registration process for students and families. The first item in this newsletter explains more about this; you’ll receive email reminders about it as well.
The second, in-person, part of student registration and pictures for the 2026-2027 school year will happen on Tuesday, August 18 – Thursday, August 20 according to the following schedule:
Tuesday, August 18: Students last name A - K
Wednesday, August 19: Students last name L - Z
Thursday, August 20: Make-up Session
Please check your email prior to registration as we’ll share specific student registration times and other information. As always, please reach out to your student’s counselor or our Main Office with any questions.
Here are a few other “Back to School” dates of importance:
Monday, August 31: Sophomore and New Student Orientation (only sophomores and new students attend)
Tuesday, September 1: First day of school for all students
Tuesday, September 8: Parent Back to School Night (6:00 PM - 7:40 PM)
I am extremely proud of our students, school, and community and am eager to start this school year. I have no doubt that our students and teachers will once again continue to excel. Thank you for your engagement and support – it is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jon R. Vollendorf, Ed.D.
Registration Week
There are online and in-person registration requirements for all students.
Online Registration
Online registration is now open! Before attending in-person registration, parents must complete online registration through Skyward Family Access on a computer. This includes verifying student information, signing important documents (student handbook, code of conduct, participation agreement), completing health forms, and managing food service and student fees. View full instructions.
In-Person Registration
All students must attend registration in August in the lower commons. Please enter through door 29 by the field house off the student parking lot. Check your email for more information for your scheduled registration time on the dates below.
- Tuesday, August 18: Last names A-K
- Wednesday, August 19: Last names L-Z
- Thursday, August 20: Make-up registration
New Student Picture Vendor for 2026 - 2027
Please note that this year we will be working with Visual Image Photographer (VIP) for our student pictures and IDs. All students will have their school picture taken and receive their school ID at in-person registration and families will have the opportunity to order pictures directly from VIP. One updated change with this change in picture vendor will be that any ordered pictures will be sent directly to the student’s/family home.
If you have questions regarding school pictures, please email Visual Image Photography (VIP) at support@vipis.com.
Important Update: 2026-2027 Schedule Change Process
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, please review the guidelines and designated window for requesting student schedule changes.
Schedule Change Window: August 25th – September 1st. To ensure a smooth transition into the fall semester, all schedule change requests must be submitted between August 25th and September 1st (the first day of school). Requests made outside of this window will not be accommodated.
How to Request a Change: All requests must be submitted using the official paper form. You can obtain a copy of this form in three ways:
Picked up during upcoming school registration days.
Downloaded directly from the SPASH School Counseling website.
Picked up in person at the SPASH School Counseling office.
Acceptable Reasons for a Schedule Change: Please keep in mind that schedule changes are tightly limited to significant conflicts and specific programmatic needs. Changes will only be approved for the following reasons:
Graduation Requirements / Study Hall: The student needs to add a class required for graduation or wishes to add a study hall.
Scheduling Error (Double Class): The student has been mistakenly scheduled for two classes of the same subject in a single semester.
Special Programs: A change is required to accommodate college courses or a Youth Apprenticeship (YA) placement.
Online Classes: The student has received official approval for an Online Learning Center (OLC) course. The last day to submit an OLC application is Monday, August 31st. Note that we might not be able to process those August 31st apps by your September 1 form submission deadline.
Transportation & Busing
When a student moves or changes schools, they need to contact the Transportation Department to
set up the new busing. This means that all sophomores will need to contact the Transportation Office if they wish to have a bus ride to SPASH. Please contact the Transportation Office by calling 715-345-5477 or email Tammy at tbarker@pointschools.net or Karen at kadams@pointschools.net.

Update Your Family Address
Please be sure that the school district has the correct address on file for your student/family so that communication is delivered in a timely manner. If you need to update your family address, please provide the district with a copy or a picture of a piece of mail with your name and current address. This information can be dropped off at the SPASH main office or emailed to dzarecki@pointschools.net.
Payment of Student Fees
Parents/guardians are encouraged to make payment of school fees through Skyward Family Access. Parents will need their personal “parent” login and password. Using your student’s login and password will not give you access to the payment screen. Please wait to pay student fees until you receive the statement in the mail to ensure all fees are applied. Statements will be mailed by the second week of August.
Please use a computer to complete these transactions. Payments will post immediately. MasterCard or Visa (debit or credit card) are accepted. A $1 handling fee is charged to cover processing costs. Student fee payments can also be submitted at registration or in the SPASH main office.
If your family is experiencing financial hardship, or qualify for free or reduced lunch, please complete a fee waiver form. These forms must be completed each year. They will be available at registration as well as in the SPASH main office.

Technology Updates
Chromebook Damage Fee
There will be a $50 fee for for all Chromebook damage. This is required to manage the increasing costs associated with device maintenance and ensure the continued availability of Chromebooks for all students.
Student Accident Insurance
Because medical costs can be expensive, Stevens Point Area Public School District provides families the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance for their student through Student Assurance Services, Inc.
This supplemental policy would assist with your out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e., deductible) should your student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. Also, if you do not have any insurance on your student, this would be primary for accidental injuries. There is a variety of coverage options, and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year. Parents / Guardians can enroll students at any time during the policy period
Please review the short video link below and the attached forms regarding student accident insurance.
