The CMIT South Middle School Creative Arts Department proudly invites families and community members to our upcoming drama production, “A Tribute to Broadway,” on Tuesday, May 20th at 6:00 PM.

Join us for an exciting evening filled with music, performance, and entertainment as our talented students bring the magic of Broadway to the stage. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, and tickets are available for $6.

As we begin preparing for the 2026–2027 school year, we kindly ask that you complete and email to Claporte@cmitsouth.org the attached withdrawal form if your scholar WILL NOT be returning to CMIT next year.

Withdrawal packets will be available for pickup once final report cards have been printed. Please note that students transferring from a charter school must also complete registration at the school they plan to attend. We recommend contacting that school directly for specific registration procedures.

Good afternoon CMIT Family,

As 2025 comes to an end, we would like to clarify several attendance and absence procedures that have come to our attention.

CMIT is a technology-focused school. Please note that the Attendance Manager, Mrs. LaPorte, will no longer accept paper doctor’s notes or emails to report a scholar’s absence unless the absence exceeds five (5) consecutive days.

All absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals must be reported within three (3) days of the scholar’s return to school by completing the PGCPS Absence Reason Notification Form:

If you are submitting an excused late arrival or early dismissal, please select the “Other” option on the form and specify late arrival or early dismissal in the description field. Attendance records will be updated within 48 hours of form submission.

Please ensure that arrangements are made—by parents/guardians or scholars—to obtain any missed assignments upon the scholar’s return to school.

Spring sports season is officially winding down, and we want to congratulate all of our student-athletes and coaches on another successful year representing CMIT South Athletics. While competition may be slowing down, we still have a few important celebrations ahead as we recognize the hard work and accomplishments of our programs.

Week Recap

Track & Field
Our track and field team competed in the 1A Regional Championships this past week. Congratulations to all of our track student-athletes on a tremendous season filled with hard work, dedication, and growth throughout the year. We are currently awaiting official results to see if any athletes have qualified to compete in the 1A State Championships next week at Morgan State University. Good luck to all of our athletes!

Important Dates

• Spring Sports Senior Night – Monday, May 18th at 5:00 p.m.
• End-of-Year Sports Awards Ceremony – Tuesday, May 26th at 6:00 p.m.

Thank you again to all of our student-athletes, coaches, parents, and supporters for another outstanding spring season!

Although the game ended in a loss, our girls showed tremendous heart, determination, and teamwork from start to finish. We are extremely proud of the way they represented our school throughout the entire season. Congratulations to the Girls Soccer Team on an outstanding undefeated season and an amazing year of success. Thank you for giving our school community so much to cheer for!

As our middle school sports season officially comes to an end for the school year, we want to congratulate all of our student-athletes on their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments throughout the year. From exciting victories to unforgettable team moments, our athletes represented our school with pride and determination.

To celebrate the success of our teams and athletes, the Middle School Athletic Department will be hosting a Sports Ceremony in the coming weeks. Families and students should be on the lookout for more information soon regarding the date, time, and additional details for the event.

We look forward to recognizing and celebrating all of our student-athletes for a fantastic year in sports!

If you are a current 8th, 9th, or 10th grader and are interested in being a team manager for the volleyball team next season, please fill out the form below.

Team Manager Requirements:
▪️Attend practices and games with the team (August to November)
▪️Help get the gym ready for practices and games
▪️Assist with tasks during practices (keep score, shag balls, etc.)
▪️Assist with game day tasks (stats, video, libero tracking, etc. -- don't worry, we'll teach you!)
▪️Be picked up after practices and games on time.

The 10th & 11th Grade SGA is hosting a Rush Hour Movie Night you don’t want to miss!

Join us on May 22 from 5:00–7:00 PM at the Indoor Soccer Field for a night with friends, a classic movie, and good times. Tickets are just $5! Snacks, drinks, and pizza will also be available for purchase.

Tennessee State University and Meharry Medical College have an accelerated 7-year MD/DDS program with full-ride scholarship potential, and they currently have ZERO Black male applicants.
