VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Families,

As the year draws to a close, December brings a wonderful opportunity to reflect on

the growth, learning, and community spirit that have filled our halls since September.

The past few months have been full of achievements, creativity, and collaboration,

and it’s inspiring to see how our students continue to thrive both academically and

socially. At this point in the year, you have had opportunity to review your child’s report

card, celebrate in their successes and connect with their teachers to plan for

continued learning. Your support makes a meaningful difference at MES!

Celebrating the Season

This month, classrooms are buzzing with excitement! Our annual Christmas Concerts

will take place on the following dates:

Kindergarten Concert - Tuesday, December 16th - 10:00 AM

Grade 3 & 4 Concert - Wednesday, December 17th - 1:30 PM and 6:30 PM

Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the performances that showcase the

hard work of our students. All concerts will be held in the school gym. Doors open 30

minutes before showtime. We look forward to seeing you there!

Other Special Events:

There are several other special events in December that add to the festivities of the

season! Our Grade 1 to 4 students will be skating at the Mitchell Arena a couple times

throughout the month. Our Grade 3 & 4 Choir will be performing at the Steinbach

Credit Union and the Southeast Event Centre On December 9th.

Winter Break

The last day of classes this year is Friday, December 19 , with school resuming

Monday, January. 5 . We hope your break is restful and filled with time with loved

ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026.

Thank You

And finally, a heartfelt thank-you goes out to our families for your incredible

generosity during our Community Christmas drive. Our foyer tables were overflowing

each morning, and it was heartwarming to see students joyfully collecting items for

families in need. It was a beautiful sight to see our community come together in this way.

Thank you!

Warm regards,

Jonelle Koop-Yumang

Music Notes:

December is a busy time for students in Music and Choir! Please see below for a list of upcoming events where students are encouraged to dress festively, and families are invited to attend.

Tuesday December 9th: Grade 3/4 Choir will be singing at Steinbach Credit Union at 10:15AM, and again at the Southeast Events Centre at 10:45AM. Each set is no longer than 15 minutes. Students have been sent home with lyric sheets, and MP3 tracks have been emailed to families for students to practice their songs at home. Please reach out to Mrs. Taves (jtaves@hsd.ca) if you or your child have not received these materials.

Tuesday December 16th: Kindergarten Christmas Concert will take place in our school gymnasium at 10:00AM. The show will last approximately 20 minutes.

Wednesday December 17th: Grade 3/4 Christmas Concert - A World of Christmas will take place in our school gymnasium at 1:30PM and again at 6:30PM. Please ensure your child returns to school no later than 6:00 and heads straight to their classroom in order to line up and be ready to perform on time. Each show will last approximately 40 minutes. Students and families will receive lyric sheets and MP3 tracks later this week so students may practice their songs at home.

Thank you, families, for your support of our music-making. We couldn't do it without you!

Looking forward to a joyous Christmas season ahead,
Mrs. Taves

Bus Loop Procedures

Just a reminder that there is no stopping or driving in the bus loop. This includes student pick ups and drop offs. Many children use that door when going out for recess and we need to keep the bus loop clear for safety reasons.
