Hello CELC Families,

Labor Day

I hope you all are enjoying Labor Day weekend. All schools are closed on Monday, September 1. We look forward to welcoming the students back on Tuesday, September 2.

We had a wonderful full week of school and eight days of WOW greeters!
A huge thank you to our Week of Welcome (WOW) guest greeters:

  • Our Very Own Cub
  • R2KT Droid (and operator)
  • Love on a Leash Pups and Handlers
  • San Diego Sheriff's Department
  • Miss Teen Rodeo USA and Stoney Oaks
  • Viejas Fire Department
  • Dr. Newman
  • California Highway Patrol

We truly appreciate your time and commitment to making our families feel welcomed on campus. It’s was heartwarming to see all the smiling faces as students begin their day.

Back to School Night & PTA Meeting
We’re excited for our upcoming Back to School Night and PTA meeting on September 4th. The PTA meeting will include a brief message, a look at the proposed budget, and an introduction and voting in of our 2025-26 board members.

Regular Schedule Begins Tuesday

We begin our regular schedule on Tuesday, September 2. Please review your child's schedule to ensure for correct pick up times. The first eight days was filled with learning many routines and rules and getting to know each other. We are excited to dive into instruction this week!

  • All TK Students' Release Time is 1:30 pm Monday through Friday
  • All K Students' Release Time is 2:50 pm on M/T/TH/F and 1:35 pm on Wednesdays

Morning Routine

Breakfast is available to students from 8:35 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. Parents, please supervise your students at lunch/breakfast tables. As a reminder, students should not be running around and/or climbing on rocks or in the landscape. Students and families are expected to follow school rules while they are on campus. Limited morning supervision is available starting at 8:35 am. Two staff members are out there to help with bus students and students that do not have an adult with them. If you have to leave before the bell, please let one of the staff members know so that your student is accounted for.

Here are a few updates to help keep you updated:

  • Please send your student to school each day with a backpack, refillable water bottle, a healthy snack, and a lunch (unless they are getting a cafeteria lunch).
  • Please include a change of clothes in a ziplock bag in their backpack. Potty accidents tend to happen early in the year. We have clothes on hand but having their own tends to make them feel more comfortable.
  • We need School Site Council volunteers. If you are interested, please contact the office or email sgreen@alpineschools.net
  • We LOVE volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please pick up the required paperwork in the office. Get cleared early if you think you are interested in volunteering in the classroom or for field trips. We need a current TB test and your driver's license along with the application.

  • Teachers will let their families know of any volunteer opportunities.

  • For the safety and security of students and staff, gates are locked during school hours.
  • CELC’s Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 4th at 5:15 p.m. Please join us in the Multipurpose room at 5:15 pm for a quick PTA meeting. Rooms open at 5:30 p.m.

  • AUSD will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students this school year.
  • Breakfast is available at the cafeteria at 8:35 a.m. daily.
  • Students may choose to eat a cafeteria lunch or bring a sack lunch from home.
  • Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. Please let the office know the reason your child is out and what symptoms they have. Email Mary Barkely, our amazing Clerk or call the office at 619-659-8250.

  • Before and after school care is available. Please see the flyer below or contact Aimee Hatfield, AUSD's ESS Coordinator, at ahatfield@alpineschools.net if you have any questions.

  • For transportation questions, please visit AUSD's website at https://www.alpineschools.net/page/transportation

  • Please find us on FB and IG!

Sincerely,

Tamara Ripke, Proud Principal

Since 2013, the State of California has required school districts to collect household

information each year. Recently, the state updated the name of this form to the Universal

Benefits Application (UBA). In the past, Alpine Union School District used a different platform

to collect this information. Beginning with the 2025–26 school year, the District will now collect

the required information through ParentVUE in the Synergy student registration system.

The State uses this data to determine how much funding Alpine Union School District receives,

which directly impacts the number of programs and services we can provide for our students.

Please fill out the UBA to help us get Title I funding for our schools. If we qualify, it will help fund programs and other supports for students. Please go to ParentVUE and follow the step by step instructions below.

The Governor's budget for education mandated that every school district in California needs to update its Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The LCAP is intended to be a three-year plan to improve student achievement by setting annual goals for the district in eight priority areas. Each of the priorities has established data requirements to track district progress improving student achievement. The LCAP requires Districts to gather input from students, teachers, parents, and community members to determine the goals, actions, and budget priorities for the District. Our District staff worked together with all of our stakeholder groups to gather input and create our Local Control Accountability Plan. Here are AUSD's 2025-26 LCAP Goals:

Goal #1: All AUSD Students will demonstrate growth will demonstrate growth in mastering both English Language Arts and mathematics standards and all English Language Learners will demonstrate growth in developing English language proficiency.

Goal #2: AUSD will cultivate a positive school climate where students and staff feel connected, engaged, safe, and supported.

Goal #3: AUSD will increase family and parent engagement within our schools with a focus on actively engaging families from underrepresented groups, ensuring equitable participation.

You can view/download a copy of our approved LCAP by clicking on the link below.

In AUSD's ongoing commitment to enhancing student achievement, they are setting goals for each school, classroom and the district this year. AUSD's targets include a 10% increase in ELA, Math, and Science scores, alongside a 10% reduction in chronic absenteeism, aiming for a 96% attendance rate. Our staff is dedicated and will work as a team to reach these goals. As partners in your child's hybrid homeschool program, let’s unite our efforts to support your student and turn these objectives into achievements. Together, we can make a significant impact and drive real progress.

Our 2025-26 Theme Our 2025-26 Theme

We believe that social emotional health, the feeling of belonging, validation, and meaningful relationships are key to a successful day at school. Our staff works to deliberately make meaningful connections with our students in order to support academics, behavior, and social emotional growth. The staff is excited to spend the school year "unleashing" L.O.V.E. Each year, we pick a theme to motivate our growth and support a positive mindset. If you see dog images around, it is a reminder that we L.O.V.E. our students!

Cubs in the Community Cubs in the Community

Mrs. Ripke will continue the Cubs in the Community tradition. Her goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke (or other staff) out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on FB and IG. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke (and the CELC staff) looks out for future, current, and former Cubs! She is ready to meet the 2025-26 challenge. See her latest sightings below!

School Rules School Rules

CELC has three school rules. Students will be learning behavior expectations that are aligned with being safe, responsible, and respectful. We practice Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We understand that our students are still learning to problem solve and deal with school expectations. We believe in progressive discipline and restorative practices. Teachers and staff document concerns and communicate them with parents to form a partnership in your child's success. We love our Cubs and are looking forward to having a year of fun, friendships, learning and laughter!

Take 5

Have you ever asked your child how their day was or what they did? Do you often get a one word response like "nothing" or "fine". Try using our Take 5 Questions to help get more thought provoking answers. It is a great opportunity to connect with your child, learn more about their experiences at school, and help them build their language skills.
