Roadrunner Ramp Weekly
News from Arbor View Elementary School: 8/28/26
Weekly Review and Upcoming Info
From Principal McCray
We've finished our first full week of school and everyone is doing great. Thank you to our students, families and staff for everyone's patience and flexibility with getting the year started.
MAP testing starts next week
Students will begin taking the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) tests in their individual classrooms during the next two weeks. Classroom teachers will communicate your child’s specific testing schedule. MAP tests have no impact on student grades but are important measures of progress in reading and math. There is nothing your student needs to do to prepare. Please help make sure they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.
Friendly reminder: We ask that families stay in their cars during drop-off and pick-up.
- If you would like to accompany your child to the door, please park your car so that we don't hold up the traffic flow.
- Pets are not allowed in and around school areas. This includes bus stops. We ask families to be mindful of this as some students or family members may have allergic reactions. I know that students are anxious to see their pet at the end of the day but these animals can be disruptive to a school environment, scare students, and carry allergens. You can view the Board policy here.
Let's go, Roadrunners!
Arbor View News You Can Use

Reminder: District policy on cell phones and personal devices during school day
Per CCSD 89 policy, cell phones and other personal electronic devices must remain out of sight and may not be used during the school day. While recent state legislation mandating this takes effect in 2027–28, our district policy is already active. Devices must be put away throughout the instructional day unless an approved exception is documented with the district. This policy helps to minimize distractions, disruptions and privacy concerns. Read full FAQs for parents and students
If your child uses their phone to manage a medical condition or for an approved academic reason, families should complete the CCSD 89 Student Use of Personal Technology Waiver on an annual basis to request an exemption. Completed forms should be returned to the main office.

Friendly Reminders
Be sure to review requirements before bringing food for other students
If you’re bringing food to school, be sure you know what is approved by reviewing the district's pre-approved food list at www.ccsd89.org/preapproved.
Remember to label items brought to school
All articles of clothing, boots, tennis shoes, backpacks and lunch boxes should be marked with the child’s name and grade or room number so they may be returned if lost. A lost-and-found box is located at each school. Found articles should be brought in immediately and children should check this box as soon as they lose an item. Parents are encouraged to occasionally go through the lost-and-found.
Fee waivers for school fees and school lunch program
The district uses two separate processes to determine eligibility for a waiver of school fees and for the free/reduced lunch program.
The district’s fee waiver application is available on our website at www.ccsd89.org/feewaiver or under the Board of Education tab, policy 4:140-E1 Application for Fee Waiver. The forms can be filled out and submitted with your income-verification documents directly to the district office (22W600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn), attention Courtney Czerwinski.
If you have more than one child in the district, you may submit one application for free/reduced lunch and another application for waiver of fees. Both applications can be submitted at the same time with the necessary documentation to avoid any delay in processing.
If you have any questions regarding the National School Lunch Program application or fee waiver application, please contact Courtney Czerwinski at (630) 469-8900, ext. 3519 or cczerwinski@ccsd89.org.
