EVE's Weekly Highlights
December 7, 2023
A Word From Mrs. Manning...
Wow what a week! Our 3rd-6th graders did their best on the NWEA assessment this week. We are confident that our students showed growth from their fall scores to winter scores. Next week our K-2nd grade students will be testing. Please make sure students are arriving to school on time and are well rested. We want our students to show how much growth they have made since the beginning of the year. Please encourage your students to do their very best. If 80% of our students show growth on the NWEA tests, Mrs. Rowe and I will allow the students to make us into...human ice cream sundaes!
Testing times for next week are:
December 12-13 Kindergarten 8:45-9:45 Reading and Math
December 14-15 1st and 2nd Grade 8:45-9:45 Reading and Math
I want to thank our eTeam volunteers for hosting our holiday photos today. The backdrop was wonderful and the students looked amazing. What a great way to get the holiday festivities started!

Parking Lot Updates
Beginning January 1, 2024, new towing enforcement measures will be implemented for certain parking spots within the East Sixth Street parking lot. Parking spots located on the west side of the parking lot are now strictly reserved for Rail Yard Patrons from 10am – 2pm.Vehicles parked in these designated spots during this time window without proper authorization will be subject to towing at the owner's expense. It is crucial to adhere to all posted signs and markings to avoid any inconvenience or penalties. These are not employee spaces and are not normally used for eStem staff and/or families, but we did want to communicate this update with you so that we can avoid any towing! Thank you!
Uniforms
eStem East Village Elementary is a uniform school. Students must be dressed in uniform Monday- Thursday. Students may wear jeans and a school shirt every Friday. Students may dress out of uniform IF they have paid $1 each Friday. Casual attire must still be appropriate for school. Students that are found to be in violation of the school uniform policy will receive a letter and will be instructed to contact their families to bring them a change of clothing. Repeated violations of the uniform policy will result in students receiving detention or assigned Saturday school. By signing the student handbook acknowledgement form, you agree to ensure your students are abiding by all school policies and accept the sanctions that are to be imposed if students are found to be in violation of those policies.
Ignite Enrollment 3rd & 4th Quarter Registration
Ignite 2nd quarter sessions will end Thursday, December 14th. The original end date was December 20th. Per CMO the last day for 2nd quarter is December 14th.
If you did not pay for the whole year, payments for 3rd and 4th quarter are due Monday, December 11th.
Please reach out to Ms. Fields at cher.fields@estemschools.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Student Pick-Up
This is a reminder that students must be picked up by 4pm if they are not enrolled in the Ignite afterschool program. If you are not able to pick up your children by 4:00pm please make sure you have made the necessary arrangements for students to attend the afterschool program or a safe place for the students to wait. Teachers and staff have families, appointments, and travel home to various distances so they must leave at the end of their contracted time.
Ignite teachers are only responsible for supervising the students that are enrolled in their classes. Ignite students must be picked up no later than 5:15. Students that are not picked up within those guidelines will be dismissed from the Ignite program. We understand that things may arise but please make sure you are communicating with the school. Please make sure you have good numbers on file where you can be reached. If we are not able to reach you or an emergency contact it will result in contact being made to law enforcement and DHS.
A Message from the School Nurse
We would gladly take any eStem t shirts and uniform pants, shorts, and skorts. We are completely out of pants for K, 1st, and 2nd grade. If your child has borrowed from us please return them asap. Please have a change for your child in their backpack.
It is important for your child to be able to unbutton their own pants. If they are unable to unbutton or undo a belt or buttons please do not have those clothes to school.
With the weather changing please label your students coats and jackets- If you are missing a coat or jacket check out the lost and found.

Loaner Devices
The deadline to purchase Loaner Device Insurance has been extended until December 31st!
Insurance must be purchased by December 31st in order to be covered for the current school year dating back from Aug 1, 2023 – May 31, 2024. Without coverage, parents/guardians could be responsible for the replacement cost if damaged. The information is attached above to this email.
Do you still need a loaner device for the 23-24 school in year for your student to use at home to complete assignments and/or access educational supplemental resources? If so, you must complete the Digital Equity Survey to request a loaner device. Please allow 5 – 7 school days from the time you complete the Digital Equity Survey to receive the loaner device. We do not have the devices on campus and have to follow the procedure to request them from the Technology Department.
• Students may only have one loaner device checked out at a time.
• Families are responsible for purchasing insurance and/or paying for damage/loss of the loaner device.
• All devices are sent home with a charging cable. The charging cable must be returned with the loaner device to avoid being charged replacement fees.
• Loaner devices and chargers must be returned either at the end of the current school year, or if your student withdrawals during the 23/24 school year.
