November 2026
Principal Message
Hello Wolverine Families!
It's hard to believe we're already heading into November! We have the excitement of Spirit Week and Halloween to enjoy as we wrap up October, and I always love seeing the creativity and enthusiasm these events bring to Shady Cove. As the weather changes, the days get shorter, and we adjust to the time change, we're reminded just how quickly the school year is moving along. November also brings an important opportunity for us to connect with families during parent-teacher conferences, scheduled for November 19th & 20th after school, and the 23rd–25th. These conversations are a valuable time to celebrate student growth, discuss progress, and work together to support each child's success. We appreciate the partnership we share with our families and look forward to connecting with you!
Thank you for all you do to support your children and our school community. Whether it's encouraging learning at home, helping your child arrive ready for the day, or participating in school activities, your involvement makes a difference. We are fortunate to have such a supportive community here at Shady Cove, and I look forward to all that November has in store for our Wolverines!
With gratitude and excitement,
Regina Jordan

Items Worth Repeating
iPad Protection Plan
iPad Protection Plan is $25 per student. It may be paid through ParentVue or by sending check or cash to school with your scholar. We highly recommend this insurance. You never know when an accident is going to happen. If you have not paid the insurance then you will be responsible for the cost to fix or replace the iPad.
IPad Protection is an annual fee. If you had the iPad Protection Plan for the 2024-25 school year it is still effective until September 2, 2025. During the 2025-26 school year, EPSD9 will continue to offer an optional iPad Protection Plan to students and families. The annual iPad Protection Plan will be effective from September 2, 2025-September 1, 2026. The cost for the Protection Plan is $25.00. Without this Protection Plan, students will be responsible for all repair or replacement costs. If your student did not have the iPad Protection Plan for the 2024-25 school year, students will need to bring their iPad to the office to verify the condition of the iPad prior to acceptance of your Protection Plan payment. Please click on this link for more information on iPad Protection Plan.
Free Tutoring
This is not sponsored by EPSD9 but we didn't want our community to miss out:
One of Jackson County Library Services' databases Brainfuse HelpNow. This is a truly beneficial resource for students throughout their educational career as it provides free tutors online daily with both English and Spanish speaking instructors, a writing lab for constructive feedback on assignments within 24 hours, college entrance exam/GED/US citizenship test prep, FASFA assistance, and more. Here is a direct link to the website: https://remote_jacksonhn_or.svc.brainfuse.com

Personal Electronic Devices
As we continue the 2025-26 school year, we would like to review the Eagle Point School District 9’s expectations for student use of Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) during the school day. EPSD9 is expanding on its policies from last year to include a cohesive PED expectation District-Wide. This is in accordance with Executive Order No. 25-09 issued by the Governor.
The purpose of this statewide order is to create focused, distraction-free learning environments where students can thrive. Research continues to highlight the negative impact that personal electronic devices and social media use have on student well-being and learning. This Executive Order, along with this Guidance from the Oregon Department of Education, urges school districts to establish rules that protect instructional time and support student mental health.
In EPSD9, the expectation is about creating space for thinking, learning, and partnership between students, families, and educators. We understand that changes like this may feel significant, especially in a world where devices are deeply integrated into daily life.
What is a PED?
Any portable, electronically powered device that is capable of making and receiving calls and text messages and accessing the internet independently from the school’s network infrastructure. This does not include a laptop computer or other device required to support academic activities (i.e., school-issued iPads). This includes, but is not limited to, cellular phones, smartphones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earbuds and headphones, and other internet-capable electronic devices.
What This Means for Students In compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order and out of respect for the learning environment:
While on campus, PEDs must be turned off and stored in a locker or backpack from the start-of-day bell until the end-of-day bell.
PEDs may not be stored on your person (excluding backpacks) during the school day.
Parents/guardians who need to contact a student during the school day should call the school office to leave a message.
Exceptions will be made for students with documented medical needs, lEPs, 504 plans, or other approved accommodations.
Schools will address violations through progressive interventions that do not remove students from instructional time.
The phrase “Off and Away During the School Day” will be consistently communicated District-Wide, to help students and staff remember this expectation and to stay unified. This initiative is about connection and well-being. We believe that by working together - students, families, educators, and our broader community—we can make this space real and meaningful.
Students who violate this regulation are subject to:
Verbal warning and redirection (first week of school only)
Student loses PED for the day; pick up in the main office after school day.
Student loses PED for the day and gets two days of lunch detention. Parent will be notified. Parents will pick up PED in the main office after school day.
Student loses PED for the day, three days of lunch detention, parent/guardian must pick up PED after school day, sign PED Contract.
Referred for Defiance (See Discipline Matrix ).
Note: Disciplinary measures specific to PED violations shall not result in lost instructional time.
Our goal is to ensure consistency, clarity, and care in implementation. Thank you for your support as we move forward together.
