Week 31
Weekly Update
Dear Elmore School Families,
We had another great week at the Elmore School. Despite the rainy days, the mud pies and muddy clothes were evidence of the fun had by all. Third graders completed their VTCAP (state) assessments this week with perseverance and grit. Parents should receive reports sometime over the summer. We celebrated our second school spirit week of the year with "Wacky Wednesday" on Wednesday, hat day on Thursday, and Elmore School Spirit day on Friday! This week students made abstract art with Ms. A using acrylic paints on canvas boards. During ECO on Friday we had a great day discovering landforms with mini-me (paper dolls), and enjoyed baking bread on the fire which they dipped in maple syrup. Yum!
On Wednesday, April 29th, we will visit Meg Witherbee's Sheep farm to see the the lambs that have been born recently. We will be away from the school from about 9:50 - 11:15, arriving back as school before lunch. Please return your permission slip on Monday April 27th, if you haven't already done so.
We are excited to be hosting our 4th annual Grandparent's (or other special person) Breakfast on Wednesday, May 13th. Invitations were sent home this week for students to invite their special guests. If a students does not have grandparents who can attend, they are welcome to invite a neighbor, family friend, or other relative such as an aunt or uncle. We will also invite a few special community members who can stand in as a "grandparent". Please return the RSVP's by May 6th. We will be asking families to contribute items we will need to make a delicious breakfast for our guests. I will share a document to sign up to contribute items in a week or so. The students will help plan and prepare the meal.
While the bus route consolidation is affecting the bus arrival time in the afternoon, I would like to remind families that pick-up dismissal is still at 3:00. Students who are not riding the bus are welcome to stay and play on the playground under their parents' supervision. We understand that things come up, but If you are going to me later than 3:00 picking up your child, please call the school to let us know.
We will have school Hot Lunch the week we return on Monday and Wednesday. Please submit your lunch orders via email by Sunday, April 26th at 6:00 pm
Have a wonderful week!
In gratitude,
Diane Nicholls
