Today is the Day!!

You can make a difference this holiday season. Your donation to the West Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative could have a remarkable impact on the health and well-being of students and educators in West Michigan. We need your help. Together, we can expand our work to more schools and communities who desperately need it.

Your tax-deductible gift supports our efforts to inspire students, expand classrooms, strengthen communities, and protect natural resources right here and right now. With a single donation, you can generate so much good.

Giving is easy. Donate online at https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/NzA3ODE=

Whether you donate $5 or $500, every gift helps. Money stays right here in West Michigan to help support place-based education projects in Muskegon and Newaygo County schools. Your donation will help provide professional development, material resources, classroom funding, and community support to teachers and students. Through our program we have involved more than 16,000 students and awarded nearly $200,000 to local schools to support place-based stewardship projects.

What we do:

We support teachers. Too many teachers are over-tasked, under-supported, and isolated from their peers. We offer teachers ongoing professional development that builds their skills and knowledge in areas of place-based education, service-learning and environmental stewardship. We connect them with other teachers and community partners. Our hub also provides material resources, funding, and community support so teachers can thrive and engage students in place-based stewardship education experiences.

We build resilient, intelligent youth. We ignite curiosity and help students make a difference right where they live. Our work fosters a sense of citizenship and responsibility in students. They use what they’re learning in hands-on ways to protect and nurture the environment. In the process, they come to realize that they can make a difference.

We improve communities and the environment. We help take the classroom into local neighborhoods by supporting teachers and students as they solve real-world problems in their own backyards.
