Black BearsBulletin October 16, 2026

Happy Friday, Black Bear Families!

We have had another wonderful week at Blattman Elementary! It is hard to believe that we have already completed our first grading period. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to help our students learn, grow, and succeed. Everything is Better at Blattman!

Report Cards Went Home Today!

Your child should have received their report card in their Friday folder. I encourage you to take some time this weekend to review your child's progress, celebrate their accomplishments, and discuss goals for the next grading period.

As a reminder, parents can also access report cards through the Home Access Center (HAC). HAC allows families to register students, complete data verification, view report cards, and monitor attendance throughout the school year.

For families who are new to HAC or need assistance, NISD has provided helpful information and resources.

First-Time Login Information:

  • Your username is your email address.

  • Your initial password is the temporary password you received by email.

  • You will be prompted to change your password the first time you log in.

Please visit the NISD HAC Help Page for step-by-step instructions and additional RESOURCES located toward the bottom of the page. Website: https://www.nisd.net/help/hac

Bike Rodeo – Thank You!

What a fun day for our Black Bears! Our students had a wonderful time participating in our annual Bike Rodeo!

A special thank you to Coach Salazar, Coachie, the Shavano Park Police Department, staff and all of our amazing volunteers who helped make this event such a fun and memorable experience for our students.

We are so fortunate to have such a supportive school community and wonderful community partners who generously give their time to our students. Events like these remind us of what makes Blattman such a special place!

Thank you, families, for another great week. I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing weekend. We look forward to seeing our Black Bears on Monday!

Safety and Security

  • Raptor system will continue to be used. ID must be presented at all times. If you plan on having lunch or have a parent teacher conference, please allow time to get scanned into our system.

  • Badges must be visible and worn at all times - staff and guests.

  • Perimeter of the building doors will be checked by campus staff after 7:45 am to ensure all doors are looked from the outside. The first front door to access the security lobby will only be open.

  • We will ramp up our pre-registration process and scanning in process during our performances and events during the school day.

  • We will be strictly asking visitors to follow our "One way in; One way out" policy and that is through the main doors to account for people entering and leaving our building. This ensures that doors aren't accidently left open or not locked. This also applies to students, who are only to be released and checked out through the front office, using our system. Teachers do not release students during the typical school day.

  • External doors that flow out into parking lots etc., will not be allowed to be used as a general entrance or exit during the school day. This reinforces our "One way in; One way out" of our campus.

  • Students will be accounted for through our iDismiss system at dismissal time to ensure all students are accounted for and kept safe until they are returned to your care.

  • Additional safety and security drills will continue to be a part of our preparation plans and we will get feedback from field experts to continuously improve our process.

  • Safety and security training for all staff campus on the protocols and procedures to keep students safe and building secure.

  • Continued partnership with NISD PD and Shavano PD/FD to enhance a positive presence and visibility.
