Weekly UpdateOctober 10-14, 2022

Message from the Principal

We are approaching the end of the 1st quarter, which is October 14. Please chat with your child about grades and assignments. They will need to be turned in by Friday to count for the quarter. If your child needs extra assistance and you would like for them to attend the after school program please reach out and we can have them stay after school.

Please have a conversation with your students about inappropriate touching at school. I know that students want to horse around but too many are jumping on each other, bumping each other, hitting etc to mess with each other not necessarily with malicious intent. Students need to keep their hands to themselves so no one gets hurt.

Middle School Spirit Week is this week see below for all the themes.

Booster club will host their Game and Dance night on October 14. This event is for students who are in good standing. This means they can not have 10 or more unexcused absences, failing more than 2 classes or have multiple disciplinary situations.

Connecting with the Counselor Connecting with the Counselor

5th Grade

This week, students started to categorize different feelings into the four different zone: red, blue, green and yellow. Before we start talking about tools and strategies to keep us in or help us get to the green zone, we have to understand what feelings belong in what zone. We also talked about how easily it is to slip from the green zone to the yellow zone during unstructured time and/or transition time in the classroom. When we stay in the green zone, we get more done!

Discuss with your student...

1. What are some red, green, yellow and blue zone feelings?

2. What does the green zone look like when you are at home? What does the green zone look like when you are at school?

6th, 7th & 8th Grade

We didn't have an SEL lesson this week because we met with our School Families!

School Families

We meet with our School Families the first Thursday of every month! This week, we made "All About Me Jack-O-Lanterns!" Students decorated their jack-o-lantern based on facts about themselves (pets, favorites and family). Then, these were displayed outside of their school family classroom. Happy Halloween!
