SAHS "Weekly Update" - 8/18/25

SAHS "WeeklyUpdate" - 8/18/25"S.W.A.R.M. Together!"

Welcome Back Yellow Jackets!

Yellow Jacket Community,

We had a great start to the school year! Our teachers spent last week getting to know their students while instructing each class in the routines and procedures that are in place to maximize instructional time for the remainder of the school year. Additionally, we held safety assemblies with all classes last week in which we reviewed our school traditions that we have implemented to ensure we maintain a safe and orderly academic environment for all students. Our students were incredible! They came to school each day with a willingness to learn and participate fully in the academic process. Last year we swarmed to an "A" school rating and, based on our first week back, we are in for another incredible year of student achievement and success!

Single School Culture Traditions @ SAHS

Last Thursday we held FLDOE-required safety assemblies with all classes. Last Wednesday we reviewed our "Single School Culture" traditions with students during all class periods. Some highlights to review periodically with your students from home include:

  • In order to minimize classroom distractions, all students are required to place their phone in hanging pouches upon entry into all classrooms. Failure to follow the SAHS cellphone policy is a an automatic Level 2 discipline offense.
  • SAHS uses "Single Point of Entry" to maximize safety. Students are required to enter/exit the building through the front lobby after school begins at 9:20am. In order to keep everyone safe on campus, we will issue consequences for students that use any other method of entry/exit during academic hours. Use of any door other than our "Single Point of Entry" is an automatic Level 2 discipline offense.
  • Attendance initiatives:
    • We are making every effort to maximize classroom instruction time. Students cannot learn if they are not in class.
    • We use a program called SwipeK12 to track tardies at SAHS. Students will be allotted 4 tardies per quarter before we begin our progression of consequences.
    • Students should supply a note to the front office when absent to avoid unexcused absences.
  • Contraband:
    • SAHS is drug and alcohol free
      • Students will be given out of school suspension for their first offense of a vape on campus. Students will lose privileges including Homecoming, Prom, and Grad Bash if they vape or are in possession of a vape on campus.
      • Drugs and alcohol on campus are Level 4 offenses per the student code of conduct and will receive the appropriate consequences.
  • Dress Code
    • We are following the SJCSD Dress Code as outlined in the "Student Code of Conduct". Students not meeting SJCSD dress code requirements will be asked to change into attire that aligns with SJCSD requirements and documented.
  • Students that commit a Level 3 or higher offense per the SJCSD Student Code of Conduct will lose privileges including Homecoming, Prom, and Grad Bash.
  • Seniors that commit a Level 4 offense per the SJCSD Student Code of Conduct will lose Graduation Commencement privileges.

Full-Year Athletics Passes Available for Purchase

We want to encourage all students to "S.W.A.R.M. Together" and support their fellow Jackets at our events. Athletic Passes are available for purchase for $75. This pass enables students to attend any home athletic event for the entire 25-26 school year and represents a significant discount over paying for tickets at the gate throughout the year. A flyer with more information is below.

Jacket Hub is Back for 25-26

We love recognizing positive behavior and contributions at SAHS! This year, we will continue identifying and highlighting students meeting our "S.W.A.R.M. Expectations" by giving them "Jacket Bucks". Students will be able to redeem their "Jacket Bucks" for prizes and privileges. Jacket Bucks are most commonly used to purchase rewards at our "Jacket Hub", which is open the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Students also utilize Jacket Bucks for entry to in-school events including pep rallies and SJCCA performances. We are always looking for parents and partners to donate rewards for students. We love it when parents volunteer to work our "Jacket Hub" during all lunches. It's a great way to support our school and see your student during lunches.
